  1. That board is from Romeoville, IL. Thats 10 min. from my hometown, and carving is unheard of down there. I was told on more than one occasion at shops in the area that you "Don't use hard ski boots to snowboard". Scary as this sounds, I have seen some stuff like this done before by people that get out once or twice a year.
  2. Thank you for the replies. I was mostly corious about if anyone here on the board would be racing in the Mid-west this year. I already I know I am a rare breed up here, but o well, I wouldn't trade it for the world. Even without any other competitors, I think I'm gonna go along for the ride ;) .
  3. Hey, I was just wondering if any racers here were racing for their respective college under USCSA. This will be my first year, and would like to hear some opinions on racing with them from snowboarders, not from skiers. Here at Nothern Michigan, I'll be the 1st boarder for the school, and I think I also might be the first in the conference, so I am in uncharted territory, and am looking for help reguarding weather I'll be reacing myself in a lot of races, or if I'll have some competitors. Thanx.
  4. Eh, all this bickering over football makes me glad I live above the bridge, and the fact that I only have 7 days till Marquette Mtn opens also helps:D.
  5. Personally, I am biased towards Leedom helmets. I have had mine redone 3 times after crashes, and have had no problems at all. I also like the fact that they are SNELL certified.
  6. No, actually the 220 KPH speed wasw set on a snowboard. I don't know who, when, or where, but iff you ever see the description for a Volkl Renn Tiger, it'll say "The only snoboard ridden to the amazing speed of 125 MPH".
  7. Roach, Those areas are where I learned to hard boot. I am originally from a Southwest suburb of Chicago, so I know all the local hills, and will be at them over Christmas break. I am up in Marquette, MI now for school, so I'll be at Marquette Mtn. almost daily once it opens. If you ever want to hook up, let me know. It's always cool to see someone here in the Mid-west that knows that hard boots aren't just for skis. Derek Krause NMU Alpine Snowboard Team
  8. Looks like I am one of the Young-uns here at 20.
  9. Thank you very much Pre. That'll give me a good starting point.
  10. Ok, I am new to the forum, but it looks like it can be a great tool. My question is this: This is going to be my first season racing. I have been carving for the past 2 seasons, and wanted to try racing this year for the Northern Michigan Univ. team. Can anyone help with any racing specific drills?
  11. I am smak dab in the Middle! I guess that means that I am one of the few carvers from the Mid-West.
