  1. Maybe try your existing hardboots and step-in bindings?   I have a few Coiler BXFR's equipped with F2 step-ins, set close to +20F/+2R and wearing size 27 UPZ.  1st board was wide enough for soft boots @ 26.25 waist and subsequent builds (after giving up soft-boots) have narrower waists from 24.0 to 24.3.  Can jump on narrower boards if conditions are right and use the same boots.

Are you looking for 165 BXFR for softboots?  Built for me around 210 lbs.

Great carving, personally the excessive hop is jerky and breaks the otherwise smooth flow…..and if you’re going to do it, why only into heelside carves?

My guess is the heelside "hop" is to transfer weight from the front to the back foot.   Not at all smooth.

As I watch these videos I notice that virtually all of them put a hand and/or forearm down on every turn. I have long taught myself to not put an hand down because 1) I don't want a dislocated finger, wrist or shoulder and 2) I don't want to rip up my clothing.

However, to get anywhere near as low as these riders is it a forgone conclusion that you must put a hand down on toeside and heelside?

When I watch the hardbooters I admire most, the best ones just barely put a hand down occasionally. One HB in particular appears to have a magnetic repulsion between his hand & the slope. The closer his hand gets, the repulsive force seems to increase as the inverse square law.

  4. You might want to consider a Stranda Cheater as well

"The Cheater is an easy turning surf-carver with an abundance of edghold. We’ve tailored the sidecut for a blisteringly fast response to any rider input. It’s got a blunt nose profile, with a tighter entry radius in the early rise, which we combined with a short half moon tail. Three layers of rubber dampening make for a ride that’s smooth as butter on hardpack. The nose rocker makes turning easy and creates float. Additional carbon stringers in the tail section add longitudinal snap. A precise and highly manoeuvrable board for cruising and carving. The 170 comes in a wide version as well. Colors: 170s = green. 177 = red."

    Usually readily available.

  5. My guess is TD's were designed using Raichles/Deeluxe boots.  When I changed over to UPZ boots from Deeluxe I had to change the toe/heel blocks postions on my TD3's more inwards so it is a pain to adjust angles as the heel and toe blocks ended up over or blocking the center mounting screw heads and need to be loosened or removed to adjust angles.

    "TD3 2nd Board Kit

The 2nd board kit is everything you need to mount a second board and not have to worry about stance width everytime. Comes with 2 disks of your choice, e-rings of your choice, center disks of your choice, and the M6 screws to mount everything."
