  1. I just bought new Indy's. Love the buckles on the new models!
  2. From what I know from having surfed and skateboarded my whole life is that most people are regular footed, like one poster noted that it is a 70-30% split, hence the name "regular". I am a goofy footer by nature however I can ride and carve switchstance pretty well, I had to practice at it alot though. Whenever I go riding with people that aren't at my level or I go by myself I will spend a good portion of the day riding switch just for fun. I don't think I would ride a hardboot set up switch I think it would be very awkward, and would feel a little helpless not being able to pop back over to my natural stance if I need to in an emergency. My personal take as to why people are regular or goofy is that the rider is more predominately left brained or right brained. Left brained=Goofy right brained=regular. Just an opinion obviously, feel free to challenge this hypothesis. TrenchDigger
  3. I don't think I intentionally advocated scaring people or coming close enough to scare them. If they are scared when I am riding (I DO NOT INTENTIONALLY SCARE PEOPLE OR COME DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO THEM) that is on them. I concur with all of you. Riding at any skill level, close to people, is a bad idea. I also think that the no spray rule is more than enough distance. I also do not gun for people nor think as I am riding how can scare the crap out of Bob, Sue or Joey. Refer to post #45 It was all meant to be a figurative anaolgy. This horse has been beaten to a pulp by now. TrenchDigger
  4. If I have to clairify that too. If I or the other poster literally meant using people sitting in the middle of a run as gates, then we would all be bloody and bruised. When I raced the Colorado Rocky Mountain Circuit back in the day we used ski gates, break-aways if we were lucky. That would mean either bashing them out of the way with your forearms and or shins. I don't think that people bashing would fly at our local mountains. What I mean't by that post of, I think that you all are taking this a little too seriously is simply. NO ONE actually uses people as gates. It would hurt (me and them). If you read (post #41 my personal rule) you will understand that I don't really get that close to people that are obstructing the run. When I said that 'everything is a gate' I was being figurative. Meaning, that I ride VERY aggressive and pretend, to myself, that I am in a carving contest at all times, every turn. TrenchDigger
  5. Maybe my sentence is a little bit of a run-on. I will try to make this clear. When I ride, I don't get close enough to people sitting on the slopes that when I am laying a big, thick, fat RUT that I would spray snow on them. As for the Star Wars quote you are on your own. TrenchDigger
  6. My personal rule is not to get close enough to ANYONE to spray snow on them. I think that is plenty of room. I guess none of you have ever ran gates before because you would then realize that it would include carving over people or plowing them over maliciously. 7. Thanks Alot!!!!! I will definetly try to make it to Mammoth in April. I have been to Big Bear and that is where I picked up my Burton Alp I have now several years ago. It was a new, older model that no one wanted so I picked it up for $125 bucks. Score!!! I think I am just going to order some new Thermo liners and keep the Raichle 724 shells that I have now. If that doesn't work I will probably order some Deeluxes or some Heads off ones of these sites. What do you know about UPZ?
  8. That Is One Of The Gnarlist Things I Have Ever Seen!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Hello Fellow Carvers, This is my first time posting on this forum. To qualify myself to post here I am 34 years old and this is my 18th season snowboarding. I have well over 500 days under my belt as I lived in a resort town (Crested Butte, Co.) for 4 years and had a couple of season passes to some of Front Range mountains after that. I moved back to California in '95 and only get to go on the occasional trip or go to the local garbage mountains 10 or so times a year. I have been riding hard boots since '89 and I ride the freestyle board when there is POW. Now for the rant.... I went on a trip last weekend to Mammoth brought both boards but only the softy boots. I was fully expecting to pick up a new pair of hard boots since my currnet pair has suffered some irrepairable damage to the liners. Mammoth is home of Wave Rave and some other notable retail shops but Wave Rave was my first choice. I have been there before and had good luck with them having a decent selection of Alpine gear. Not this year. I was reffered to about 7 or 8 different shops NONE of them carried carving/racing gear. I know I probably should have called first but I thought for sure someone would have had some hard boots for sale. They all looked at me like I was speaking a different language or something. I was forced to be on my softies all weekend which isn't the end of the world since I can carve on that just fine, even switch. I would have liked to carve some ruts for other tourists trip in though. I really can't believe that NO one even carries Alpine gear any more. Where do all their local racers get there gear? Thanks for reading, TrenchDigger
