Guest ob13
I got the edges of my F2 SL 166 sharpened, result was great but I fell 3 times, catching the edge when switching from toe to heel turn. One of this fall resulted in a "light" head trauma so I decided to buy a helmet :). I was wondering if the top of the edges werent too sharp and if it is common practice to make them a little bit less sharp at the top? If yes, how could I do this? Thanks
nekdut
Its probably the base bevel (or lackthereof) rather than the sharpness that was giving you problems. Put a 1 deg bevel on the base and give that a try before taking any sharpness away from your edges.
Guest ob13
OK I think that I see what you mean, that could make sense. Can I do this manually with a manual sharpener, estimating the angle visually? (sorry if I am not using the right terms, I am not native english) Thanks
mirror70
The problem was not with the edges but with your riding. You weren't finishing your turns cleanly, so the board was sliding sideways. If you put an edge down while the board is moving sideways, it's going to catch even if it's dull.
Pow
sounds like me when i first got my edges sharpened. now i usually put a little "hop" into my edge to edge transitions, provided that im going fast enough. takes care of my edge catching issues.
