Weight way back

Did anyone else notice Radoslav Zidek, the men's SBX silver medal winner, during the last stretch? Bombing straight down to the finish, his weight was WAY back, so far back the nose of the board was off the snow.

Erwin just posted some similar photos in this thread:

I've never seen this kind of thing before... have I just not been paying attention, or is this the favored technique for straight-line speed?

Weight on your front foot will slow you down (all the pressure will act as a brake), neutral will be like err neutral, weight on the back will speed it up, and also make it interesting as its very hard to get any front toe-side/heel-side pressure when the tips in the air.

Give it a try, its good for a laugh.

No don't sit back, Ride neutral. If you have a good wax job, you'll go fast. If you watched that race closely, he would move faster in the corners than he was on the flat sections. Bad wax job lost him that race.

That maybe true, a bad wax job will screw you and leaning back might not make up for it but if you have a good wax job and are going fast leaning back will make you go faster, when you're in a race on the straights where you can sacrifice a little bit of balance why bother being even on the board? leaning can give you an extra push.
