Guest raphael
Hi everybody, Following your advices on a good summer training tool, i bought a Carveboard Stik. I live in France. This is my first time buying from the states. I bought the Carvestik on Ebay from someone living in Massashusets. We agreed on 60$ for shipping, two weeks ago. But the seller now says it's not enough and asks for 60$ more. I don't have that much money, by the way it would make the board more expensive than a brand new one. Do you know what's the cheapest way to send it to France ? Does anyone plan to go to Paris in the next weeks ? Maybe you could help me. Thanks in advance. Guest raphael
By the way, if anyone here knows how much weigths a carvestik, please tell me. Maybe the transporter the seller called is too expensive. I hope he is not lying to me. Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks in advance.
Jack M
Use the UPS shipping cost estimator here: http://wwwapps.ups.com/calTimeCost?loc=en_US Use a weight of 20 pounds, and if it asks for box size, say 48 x 14 x 12 inches. Good luck.
Neil Gendzwill
Try DHL rather than UPS. I think they're cheaper to Europe. ETA: Scratch that, DHL is outrageous on their tariff rates (although apparently quite good if you have an account with them). Use USPS - airmail is $70, and if you're willing to wait for surface it's $34. Because the dimensions are long you might have to use EMS which would be $81. D-Sub
USPS is the cheapest international for _anything_ period. surface mail is cheapest, but can take months, literally airmail parcel post is next Global Express Mail is the fastest and more expensive but offers a tracking number and $100 insurance Global Express Mail™ (EMS) 3 - 5 Days $78.35 Airmail Parcel Post 4 - 10 Days $66.25 Economy (Surface) Parcel Post 4 - 6 Weeks $33.25 that is for a 20lb package to france, before insurance. http://postcalc.usps.gov/
Guest raphael
Thanks for your answers. I don't know if it is 20 lb or more (well, 20 already seems heavy to me). Hmm, surface certainly wont work, as long as there's no bridge crossing the atlantic. ;) If the seller uses Airmail Parcel Post, there won't be any tracking number. Does it mean i will have no proof he sent me the item ? He has no status on Ebay, he is a newbie, wich means i don't know whether i can trust him or not. So the cheapest may be better for him. But is it not dangerous for me ? I don't know how USPS works. French Post always gives you proof the item was sent, and proof it was received. Is it the same ? Guest raphael
Well, 19lb was what i guessed. So it's a bit expensive with tracking. bateau. Are you sure ? It looks pretty unexpensive for overseas. Is it not restricted to truck transport ?
Phil
Maybe there is someone here from Mass. that would be willing to pick it up and ship it for you. They could then ship it as cheap as possible. Anyone?
D-Sub
surface mail means BOAT in your situation, but still takes too long. if youre worried, I would pay for EMS. you get a tracking number that way. in all honesty I would never have bid on something from someone with no record, altho in my experience most people are honest.
