patmoore
As of yesterday I would have been married fifty years except that I had eight years off for good behavior. Thanksgiving 1969 was on the 27th, the day before the wedding and the prospective in-laws got together the evening before to meet each other. We were all invited to Thanksgiving dinner at the apartment of Ron and Darryl Smith who were Best Man and Maid of Honor. Darryl had never cooked a turkey before but she set about the task with confidence cramming the inside with uncooked rice and whatever else she could find in the kitchen. On the oven rack below was a Corningware dish with a greenbean casserole. We were all playing charades in the living room when the door to the oven blew open sending the contents out the kitchen, across the hall and slamming into the far wall. In a scene reminiscent of the Road Runner cartoons, the turkey spreadeagled out like Wily Coyote and slowly slid down the wall. As we sat there in shocked silence it slid to the floor. On close examination we found hundreds of tiny pieces of Corningware embedded in the turkey. Ron calmly picked up the phone and called for pizza delivery.
Kurt Swanson
That made me think of the WKRP In Cincinnati Thanksgiving episode with the "turkey-drop" from a helicopter. (turkeys can't fly). Oh, the humanity! Glad no one was hurt in your episode Pat....

Had one for years. When I finally shaved it off, my 4 year old (now 45) said, "Shave it back on!"
