General Raichle Adjustibility Questions

Folks,

I have stock SB 224's and haven't played with the settings much, mostly due to lack of knowledge. I have them locked into the 3 spot currently because it was the "midpoint".

What exactly are the benefits of lean adjustment, say position 1 vs 5? Should I be engaging more foward lean for a EC style? Is the setting all a matter of personal preference?

Lastly, how exactly do you engage the walk mode, and what exactly does it do for you?

Apprecite any info on this. I've searched the web and there's not much out there on these....

Everything you want to know and more:

http://www.alpinecarving.com/boots.html

The "Boot Lean/flex" section discusses the various lean options.

I personally use "powder mode" which is described as such on the alpinecarving site:

"With the lever down and the dial turned, the lean can flex only between the forward-most lean positions 1 and 3 (for carving on chop with moderate suspension). This option is not available with the 3-position lean adjusters that come with the low-end models."

I find this to be the most useful position on both boots in anything but the best of hero groom (in which case I lock my boots in at 3 in front and 2 in the back) and the deepest of powder (in which case I lock the front in at 4, to keep my weight from going too far forward - but leave the back as described).

Oh, I should mention I use Booster Strap. The booster strap in combination with the Powder Mode gives me flex with resistance. I've never tried the RAB spring - sometimes I wonder if I'm not unwittingly simulating the ride you get from that?
