MT. BALDY, Calif., Nov. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- For a limited time, Mt. Baldy Ski Lifts Inc. is offering season passes for only $59.00. This offer is only for first time riders to the resort and valid for the 2013-14 season.

"Now first-time skiers and snowboarders can ride Mt. Baldy all season long for less than the regular price of a one-day ticket. It's an almost risk free way to sample our mountain," states Ron Ellingson, President of Mt. Baldy Ski Lifts Inc.

"Passes are intended for skiers and snowboarders unfamiliar with Mt. Baldy and issued on a strict first come first served basis," said Ellingson.

"This is an irresistible offer especially in today's economic climate. We know that some will look at the offer and think, 'What's the catch? There isn't one, just a few restrictions. That's it!'"

The pass is virtual; therefore, a physical pass is not issued. Instead, the skier's information is maintained at the ticket office and a daily lift ticket is issued with presentation of a valid picture ID. Reservations are required 24 hours in advance. If reservations are not made, user may still purchase a day ticket on arrival for $15.

"Skiing and snowboarding are by far the most popular activities at Mt. Baldy, so it makes sense we use our strongest assets to attract more visitors to the mountain. We are the local mountain resort to about 10 million people, but many don't realize where we are located. It is amazing how many people think we are near Mt. High or Big Bear. They are surprised to learn how close we really are," added Ellingson.

"By offering first time rider season passes for only $59.00, we will start to put Mt. Baldy back on the map," concluded Ellingson.

Mt Baldy is the closest ski resort to Los Angeles, Orange County and most of the Inland Empire. The ski lifts can be reached within 60 minutes from most of these areas. Mt Baldy is just north of Upland and Claremont. Take the Mountain Avenue exit in Upland off the 210 Freeway and go north following signs to Mt. Baldy Resorts. Or take the Baseline exit in Claremont and go north on Padua and turn right on Mt Baldy Road. Mt Baldy Road dead ends in the Ski Area parking lot.

Incredible deal (if they get some decent natural snow)! Too bad I can't take advantage of it - I've purchased many season passes there over the years.

On a side note, Baldy is not a particularly great mountain for carving. The few runs they have are relatively narrow, and usually full of skiers and boarders.
