kieran
amazingly similar to waxing a snowboard, in principle. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/8886307/Super-slippery-material-could-mean-end-to-having-to-wait-for-ketchup.html
terekhov
but someone need to make bases porous first: http://www.escnordic.org.uk/myths/pores.htm
Willow 15
It would not need to be porous as it would not need wax. Isn't the application of wax a means of shedding water (melted snow from friction) from the base. If the base already has this property-no wax needed. I wonder if the scientists have tried different structures for differing viscosities of liquids or the new material repels everthing at a uniform rate?
