patmoore
While I was sidelined with a broken foot (hitting a gate with my ski tip at a race in Colorado in 2009) I took up pencil sketching and did these drawings of former Olympians who paceset at last year's NASTAR Nationals. The guy second from left on the bottom row is not an Olympian but he's an impressive dude nonetheless. That's Bill Madsen, Director of NASTAR, former traveling pacesetter and former National Powder 8 champ. The others are former and current Olympians. How many can you identify? skategoat
Top right - Phil Mahre. If not Phil Mahre, then Steve Mahre. And to nitpick a bit, according to the IOC, there is no such thing as a former Olympian. Once an Olympian, always an Olympian.
patmoore
Yep. That's Phil - a genuinely nice guy. I like that - always an Olympian!

patmoore
diann roffe- top row. third one. Diann had been there the year before but that's Heidi Volker. I'd love to ski like either of the those ladies. They are still lightning fast as is the young lady in the lower left - Kaylin Richardson. I've watched her race head to head with Phil. Her technique is so smooth she's a joy to watch.
