Surf Quebec
Do you use it as a diamond stone ? With your file guide and some water on it ?
Pat Donnelly
See POLISHING edges: http://www.tognar.com/deburr_tips_edge_polish_repais_ski_snowboard.html I have my boards ground to establish a flat base and to set base and edge angles (0.5* base / 2* side). From that point on it's a maintenance detail for the side edges only for me. I use a file guide and along with a set of progressive diamond stone files from course to super fine and then finish off with an Arkansas wet stone. The first pass with a course stone will report any nicks or roughness. All stones are dipped in water prior to use and rinsed from one side to the other. Take a paper towel along the edges after each progression.
nils
yes water and as a diamond Usually am sharpening with: - 200 diamond to untemper the steel - icecut race file ( vallorbe special steel) that leaves no marks on the steel - 400 diamond - 800 diamond - arkansas: but i'm using it only when i want that mirror look: its very long to obtain ( our specialist friend from tooltonic told me he needs 4-5 hours to get his son ( BX races) a real race finish that lasts: its a mirror but it needs a hell of a job) I am therefore rarely going as far as the arkansas step, it takes too long and doing a half job ( half polished half unpolished) seems useless compare to a good 800 diamond, but when i do its always with water!
