Bill Boothby
Specs - • Total Length - 182cm • Waist - 18.5cm • Nose - 24cm • Tail - 23.05cm • Side cut Radius - 14.5M From the literature for this board: The Velocity is constructed using a custom woven carbon fiber cloth. Strands of carbon fiber run the entire length of the board, over ever single square inch (not a few carbon stringers which effectively accomplish nothing). Our boards have over 75 strands running its length. Carbon fiber is one of the stiffest, most resistant materials in the world. It is used on fighter planes and on space shuttles, in tennis rackets and on formula 1 race cars. Carbon provides strength and stored energy when compressed and tensioned. This means when you make a turn, you flex and been the board using the inertial force of your body weight (energy). The carbon stores this energy momentarily, before returning it to the source. When you exit the turn, the energy is released. The result is a crisp unweighting effect making edge to edge transfer faster, smoother and easier. The Velocity is laminated using "spring core". These precision CNC machined works of art run the entire length of the board, tip to tail. The cores are a combination of poplar stringers laminated edge to edge, with two Canadian maple stringers running around the inserts from the tip of the nose to the tail. The poplar is a lightweight wood, yet it retains the profile it is originally machined to, and has a very high yield when under deflective forces. This means it can bend with the flex of the board and return to its original shape again and again without breaking down the wood fibers. The two maple stringers provide stiff, high memory characteristics for the flex pattern and camber. Combined together through the lamination process, they give the Velocity a stiff, snappy, enduring flex pattern, without using excessive amounts of resin and glue in the lamination process. This keeps the boards light. Base and edges in perfect shape. Base structured/always waxed.Topsheet dingfree superficial binding marks.
