tex1230
So last weekend at Stratton I was lazily flipping channels after a day on the slopes when what do I see? The Carvefather throwing backflips in an Air Chair! (think it was on RSN) Sickness...did he ever land one? Also - I became a believer in the idea of rocker. Not on a board, but I tried out a pair of Salomon Lord skis which have a bit of nose rocker. While it took a little time to get used to, I can now see what Phil was talking about in terms of usefulness in a race course. on steep ice, they felt useless - noses flopping all over the place...until I laid into a turn and the rockered nose caught and hooked up. immediately went from a 18-20m turn (using snowboard experience to equate - i have no idea of real #s) to about a 10m turn. Kinda caught me off guard the first time, but I can see these kicking ass in a tight GS course if they were stiffened up a little. ...still not buying a rockered snowboard, though...
