crazyTKDsquirrel
Yes, I've already tried a search, but I didn't have much luck. I'm wanting to know just how much of a difference cant plates make on binding angles. More specifically, I have a 3* cant in the front with the bindings set at about 50 degrees, and a 6* cant in the rear with the angles set at about 45* (I know they're subtle, but I'm still on a freestyle board...for now.) So what would these angles really translate to on the cant plates?
crazyTKDsquirrel
I'm using TD1s, if that matters at all...
BadBrad
The canting plates should not affect your binding angles, at least not by any significant amount. I have switched among zero, 3, and 6 degree cants, but my binding angles were the same -- set so that my boot heel and toe were just at the edge of the board. crazyTKDsquirrel
Really! I'm not sure why I thought they did...huh Well thanks though. :)
BlueB
Cants do not affect your stance angles - you still can ride whatever feels right. However, the stance angles do affect the amount of cant-vs-lift you would have with fixed cants (TD1): at 0 angles you would have only cant, at 90 only toe/heel lift, at your 45ish you have 50% cant and 50% toe/heel lift... Cants also can affect your stance width - more cant/lift would allow you to go for wider stance. This is very noticable when you ride very stiff boots and bindings.
