Having the Bible and the bill of rights in the same line, a little contradiction there maybe. I think the song was meant to be non-political and the bible reference is a way to appeal to those who might think it a little liberal in meaning. There was a token shout out to lots of constituencies. islam, judaism, gay and lesbian community. The .org part is a little sinister. haven't had a chance to follow up on the money thing yet. All that aside the sentiment of getting back to our roots and standing together is a good one. the problems we are facing in this country aren't going to be solved by politicians. Pick a founding document and read the preamble. here's an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, The rights laid down in the first ten amendments are those inalienable rights. Oh yeah "endowed by the Creator" regardless of your personal beliefs its hard to stand and say with a straight face that the bible and the first ten amendments don't belong in the same sentence. historical accuracy says they began hand in hand. Interesting side note: The bill of rights is the basis of tolerance which is or was a Christlike value. He who is without sin cast the first stone etc. Intolerance may be a religious Christian value but it isn't Christ like. Perhaps we need to avoid the broad stokes and paint each other with smaller brushes. Intolerance is often a two way street. Corporations include many churches.
