Terryw
Busy!!! Everyone must have had the same idea we did. It was a zoo up at Summit. It took us 3 hours from the bottom of the hill to the parking lot. Chain control caused a miles long back up. Roads were barely clear enough for two cars to pass each other. The restriction on large trucks ( big rigs, tanker trucks etc.... ) was lifted, which also made for interesting driving. No passing lanes, no place to pull out, no fun. Temps were also up at Summit. It was 39 degrees when we arrived. I think it will only get warmer for the weekend. By the time we made it to the hill, it was pretty chopped up. Still carveable, but not the fresh cord I was craving. I would suggest a very early start for any one else heading up the hill any time soon! In short, conditions were good, but not great. I had hoped for much better. Driving conditions were terrible. We saw only one snow plow doing any work to improve the roads leading to Summit in 6 hours of driving. The roads will certainly improve dramatically in the next few days, but I fear that will only bring more people to the slopes. Good luck on Sunday guys. Hope the trip is better for you than it was for us.
