For example going to work with a broken leg or basically working with a ridiculous injury of some sort. This had me wondering if there were any racers/pros here that had any good "war stories", such as showing up to a race with a massive laceration or a broken ankle or something. BlueB Posted December 29, 2007 Report Share Posted December 29, 2007 I watched defending BX champion, Mickey Shwanckard ride the semifinals heat, without helmet. All 4 riders crashed on ridicoulously constructed first berm, with one guy landing on Mickey's head. Blood showed on the snow right away, but he managed to get up and finish the heat qualifying for finals. After the finish it became obvious that the edge opened almost skull-wide cut on his head. He refused serious medical attention, got quick-patched with some bandages, stuck a mountain bike helmet on top of that and rode the finals. Came 2nd, defeted only by a sole hard charging hardbooter.
