dshack
Right now I have mondo 25 liners in a 25.5 suzuka shell. I'm pretty sure I can feel a little slop, though molded they look like they fit ok. I've got small hands, but when I do a shell test I can get about 3 fingers or so in there. I've got an option to trade for some Burton 24 winds. Has anyone tried to get thermo liners into burton shells? How does the sizing match up? Would a full step down be too much? Bullwings
I know wavechaser said he'd use a larger liner and a smaller shell. The other way around doesn't sound so good though. As for downsizing, I think don't think it's such a bad idea. I just downsized from a 29 to a 28 (my foot measured 29.4cm), and it feels great so far, a little bit tight for the first 2-3 runs, then it got better. I've only put 1 day on the boots so far, and am expecting the liners to pack out a bit more by day 5. I'm not sure how burton's sizing runs, but people have said that Deeluxe runs a size too big, so if you measure something like a 28 or so, you should downsize to a 27. I discovered this first hand and would say they're correct, not that I doubted them or anything -- I just bought my first pair of boots before i stumbled across that info. dshack
Hmm...the lower assembly of my suzukas, the part that encloses my foot, clearly says 25.5...
felix
Yeah it says 25.5 to indicate that it was for 25 and 25.5 as both are the same you in effect got a 25.5 as a pure 25 doesn't exist.
Mike T
My size 25 Suzukas also say 25.5 on the bottom piece. You indeed have the "right size" liner for your shell as Bola says. If you have low volume feet like I do, than using a larger size Thermoflex liner than your shell size can indeed take up some of that extra volume. If you can fit 3 fingers behind your heel your boots are most likely too big.
dshack
That's what I thought at first, too, but my foot seems to be the exact right length for the liner... do you think trying to squeeze the 25 thermos into a 24 burton shell would be possible? I've got a trade offer from a guy in a similar situation, but with feet one size bigger
Mike T
That's what I thought at first, too, but my foot seems to be the exact right length for the liner...do you think trying to squeeze the 25 thermos into a 24 burton shell would be possible? I've got a trade offer from a guy in a similar situation, but with feet one size bigger You'd have to remold, since the liners is not only molded on the inside to your foot, but on the outside to the shell, but it should work. I have used size 26 liners in a size 25 shell before and it worked great. The only reason I am still not doing it is that that pair of liners finally got so packed out that remolding didn't help anymore.
dshack
The Almanac sez: "Burton liners are not warm. Raichle Thermoflex liners are recommended for Burton boots, since you will get a significantly better fit, and they will be warmer. For the regular Thermoflex liners, use the same size as the boot. For the HPD Thermoflex liners, you may need to get a liner that is one size smaller." So would trying to squeeze in an HPD one size bigger definitely be a bad plan?
