  1. Most GPS units update your position once a second. Some GPS dataloggers are available that update 5 times a second. These would be better on the slopes. Only the most recent units use the so called SIRF chipset that looks for all the satelites at once. this low power comsupmtion chipset is super sensitive so you can look through the trees (whitefish). All in all i fool around with my eTrex Legend unit (Garmin) on the snow but the data is not all that interesting. Regards, Bob

  2. Jack: I have a pair of Burton Fire marked 25.6-26 on the lower shell. They have Intuition Liners and are intec compatible. You can have em for the rest of the season. No charge! Pease dont mould the liners. If you like them I'll sell them to you for 125.00 at the end of the season. If they dont fit well just give them back. Send me an email and we can hook up. Bob

  3. I bought some cheapie shaped skis (Rossie Axis) two years ago as a day extender and to ski with my wife. I am an old guy 200lbs 58yo. If you havent been on skis in 15 years you will find that all the newish gear terrific. All of it is very accesssible. I'd spend your dough on comfy boots. All the new skis are great, the bottom of the line is fine. IMO. Bob

  4. I had a similar problem with plastic Intecs on SB boots. I needed to get M6 (I think) filister head screws that were 34mm long (I think). That was long enough to pass through the intec into the boot heel and emerge into the boot shell were i was able to put a nylock locking nut on the inside of the boot to back up the insert. You really want those things on there. If you just have a few threads engaged you risk having the heel come off. The screws were nice and long and still do not interfer with the shim below the boot liner. You will need find a hardware store with metric nuts and bolts but the size is pretty common. Take an old screw in with you. I got stainless steel and it is holding up well. the tread locking screws I got with my plastic intec heels were not long enough and they strpped out on me a bit. Be careful to get the heels on there good.

  5. I am 56. I started when the kids took up sking. stopped in 1994 or so (PJ and ski boots) been getting back into it this season. Regards.

53 - started snowboarding when my (then) 7 y.o. daughter decided to trade in her skis and take a snowboard lesson. I figured that if a 7 y.o. could learn, then a 51 y.o ought to be able to as well. 2 years in soft boots, transitioned to alpine this year and it just keeps getting better and better......
  6. I have a pair of used mondo 25.5-26 Burton Fires that I bought off this board.

I thought I could get my mondo 27 feet into them but it didnt work out. However the Intuition liners that came with them fit my older shells and boy are they great!

The boots are used and come with a parts boots and extra heels and toes. They are intec compatible.

Let me know if you are interested.

Looking to set up my son with some inexpensive bindings - toe/heel bails and a pair of boots. I have a pair of 24.5 Burton Furnance to trade or sell. Any help would be great! :o
  7. 56 A Lawyer. Started in 88 on a Burton with a belly. Introduced the kids around 90. Bought a PJ "Roses" in 92 and discovered the joy of carving in comfort. On many days I have been older than all the other borders put togeather. Still stoked, still sore.
