  1. neil, when are you guys training on a weekend again? I'd like to come out and watch, if its OK? preferably when the weather gets nice and cold again? thanks
  2. really? any more info on that??
  3. how do you guys get into snowboard racing? I'd like to get into it eventually, since I consider myself pretty fast on a board but I don't just want to sign for a race and start crashing into the gates. Is there some kind of training program or practice course set up by the resorts you can give a try (like a NASTAR course or something?) thanks for the info.
  4. you're talking about the one at Camelback yesterday right? How'd you do? I was watching the event for most of the day (not sure if you saw me, I had a green jacket, black helmet and an alpine racing board). Some of those kids were sure ripping it up on the course even on fs boards. Give them a few more years on a racing board, they'll be tough to beat. The top adult riders on the race boards were just awesome to watch, they were really laying down some serious trenches. Got to meet some gentleman whose son was competing, got invited to ride with his crew down at Ski Roundtop. Also I noticed that Pocono Raceway trail makes for a nice carving trail, I think I might go back to that one.:)
  5. I might be down for that, hopefully conditions will be better. we should get a whole pack going, show all those park monkeys a thing or two
  6. must've missed the alpine riders out there today, didn't get on the hill until almost 11 (stupid line at the guest services). thought I saw a couple on the south mountain, but I think I was the only one on the south peak the entire afternoon. conditions at south got from bad to worse as the day progressed, the snow just kept getting choppier and choppier with the warm weather and the high amount of traffic, coupled with the rain around 3 just made for difficult carving day. if I had my fs board I would've used that instead. we Creek riders should set up some kind of meet in the future, considering theres at least a few in this forum. Mel
  7. I have SP5's on my Rossi 166, I could show you my setup if I meet you. planning on riding Creek this coming Monday, any other Creek carvers going to be there?
  8. I'll prob. be hitting the Creek after Christmas. (leaving for Tahoe in a few hours :D ). hit me up if you want to go riding.
  9. thanks for the reminders, I'm definitely gonna put all my sb tools in my checked in board bag when I go out to Tahoe next week. don't want to take any chances. last I heard however, they might reallow small utility tools including small razor blades on board so go figure? check the TSA website for details. on a sidenote my company collects hazardous materials confiscated by the TSA, you should see how much lighters they dispose of, its crazy....
  10. always helps to have more than one board. Whenever conditons permit, I use my Rossi race board but when the snow gets too choppy or its late in the season and its all slush, I break out my freestyle board. jdgang when do you ride at Creek? looking for more hardbooters at MC...

    Tahoe

gonna be up there around x mas as well. actually staying in reno but planning on going up to squaw for a couple of day trips, since there seems to be enough things to do there for my non snowboarding family. definitely hitting up Mt. Rose on the last day since I purchased advanced tickets. anyone have any recommendations for alpine-friendly trails for either place?
  12. 33, been riding for 16 yrs this season. started off with a cheap Black Snow (thing was barely a toy, but at least it had metal edges), and a pair of Sorels (real s/b boots weren't available yet). bought a Barfoot, rode that for a couple of seasons, then tried Alpine with an asym Kemper with softboots. finally bought plates (SP 5, which I still use) and put that onto an asym Mistral back in '94. rode that for a while, bought an Oxygen asym, rode the CRAP out of that one. finally got tired of people asking me if my board was broke (cuz of the asymmetry) and bought my current stick a couple of yrs ago, a Rossi VAS 166 symmetrical race board. woo hoo, first post!!:D
