  1. my second board, on which I learned alpine, was an alp 5.6 with softies. It tought me just fine. I couldn't get away with that now that I wear size 12. I dont know if I ever really carved in that setup but it was cool to think I was a carver when I was 12. My sister now rides that setup and doesn't carve for fear of the brutal learning curve. Yes it is possible to carve a race board with softies. No it is not as rigid and strong IMHO.

  2. SO as im get into my car, I look up and notice a poster taking up a whole window and It catches my eye... They guy is in hard boots, and not on skis..

Its a poster from The north face i think... pretty big too, like 4'x8'

Kind of ironic since they obviously dont sell alpine gear.

    anyone else seen this?

I've seen the same type of thing at my local sports authority. It was a '80s suy in the then fassionable dayglow that was aireborn halfway thouugh a carve. The place doesn't know what alpine gear is.

  3. I'm up in winter park 40 times per season. Parents have a condo and I have the season pass. Only have to pay for gas and food. Brian, I cant help you find lodging but I can tell you that WP is a great place. The connected Mary Jane has some of the best bumps I've ever ridden. Vasquez has some fine carving blues. There are a lot of catwalks, though.

  4. I'm still young (16) and taking great risks when hardbooting (mostly last run of the day after denying total exhaustion). I crash so often that smacking the skid lid has become mundane. Thank God my parents got me started on helmets when I learned to ski 13 years ago. I use it every day I'm on the slopes. My parents would be bankrupt or off snowsports forever without the money saving device called a helmet. Like everyone else said, it's warm, it's windproof, it agrees with googles. I have never skied or boarded without a helmet.

ps-don't say you board with a helmet and have an avatar of yourself carving without a helmet

  5. I thought it was cool, but kinda impractical. Plus I had already seen it on sliverfish. Its a cool idea though, maybe it just needs some refinement so it can be used on lighter snow.

If you keep refining it, it will be a snowboard :D

  6. I have a prior atv 167... some dings on the top sheet.. used this season only will consider reasonable offer.

    ...considering...

    got pictures?

I cant spend too much on a new board. The rest of my quiver nearly sucked me dry. This is an addiction.

  7. You all make it seem that I (clearly a kid at age 15) should be doing the park and pipes instead of carving! :biggthump I, myself, was "converted" by my uncle that threw me on a skwal 3 years ago. I got hooked into this wonderful sport through sheer admiration. I dont think anyone less connected to me could have talked me out of soft boots.
