  1. cool vid funny part was..right near the middle...2 guys on the main face, and you see another person tryin to lay down a big edge...nothin but slidin. Ive seen that look before when I blow by people..."wtf?" followed by "man...I wish I could do that!" heh. nice one
  2. I saw those, believe me:) I actually have an oxygen 178 longboard that Ive had some real good times on in powder. wonder what that would be like with plates. but yeah, I have my eyes on the oxy carvers at ebay.
  3. I believe it was...94/95? or 95/96, and then the following season I was at Crested Butte hated that place. too many hippies, and more unfriendly people than Ive ever run across in one place. steamboat ROCKED tho. women, good snow, tons of good friends made never shoulda left actually:) I hear ya on buyin the new board...frugality makes me ask these questions tho. I was actually thinkin about goin to an all hard setup and gettin me one big carver and one pretty big all mountain board. somethin thatll still work in the soft stuff and trees... my feet hurt too much with the soft boots:) thanks C5 for your input! youre in seattle area, no? Ever ride Crystal? Any good?
  4. sweet. thanks for the replies, fellas. thing is...Im just over 6'2" and weigh 210 or so. Thinkin of a big board, too... 175 is the shortest Ill go. there're some oxygen boards on ebay right now...goin pretty cheap. BUT...an underlying question: should I even bother? The Killer Loop 180 seems to ride pretty nice, and I never complained about the PJ either until I found this site and the links to Donek and Coiler (will check out Prior, too!) is asym really "old news" now? oh..and...oldvolvos...I dont mind goin up when its hot and slushy. Ill just take my little santa cruz 161 freeride board and spend some time in the air! I wont be makin any claims about soft boot carving tho cuz its never worked well for me:) as for the demo stuff...well ****! Donek demos boards? Does Coiler? that would be SICK! and...thank you MUCH for the offer of trying your prior out, but it seems like it would be a hassle unless we had the exact same boot size, ya know? anyway...stick with what I have or get current?.
  5. or license some music from a fellow carver who writes electronic music as a hobby:)
  6. Hey all. New to this board. Really stoked to see theres a good community goin here with the carving thing. Ive been ridin a hard setup off and on since 96 when I spent a season in Steamboat Springs and someone traded me a PJ7 for my K2 HC176. I believe the PJ was a "special edition" of some sort...gold top, black base? rode that with standard burton plates that entire season. Never seen myself in action but at times I feel like Im really rockin it! Last season I picked up a Killer Loop GS180 and some Burton step-ins. Put that together and rode it at mammoth a couple weeks ago, and had a hard time at first (maybe cuz I was used to the Asym?) but then once I got it...WOW. Scary precision and speed. Anyway...after finding this site and finding out about COILER boards, my lust has been inspired. my question is this: should I opt for a new setup? I _have_ the money, but logic tells me not to spend it as the PJ has always been a fun ride and still has many runs left in it, and this Killer Loop board is practically new, so spending the money isnt a necessity. but those boards look so SLICK! Also considering a boot switch. I have Burton "earth" boots from a while ago..maybe 98? not sure exactly. They seem to work alright but they hurt my feet a bit. This was alleviated by pulling out the footbed (damn thing feels like PLASTIC!) but theyre still a tad uncomfortable. Is UPS still a good boot? Raichle seems to be the standard, too. anyway...I've got tons of questions about lots of other stuff. Heh..Ive only ridden with someone else on a hard setup a handful of times. Im always the loner on the hill! Even when I was in steamboat...never really saw anybody else except my Aussie housemate Daniel, and this girl that was visiting from backeast. that was IT! ok ok...any input would be greatly appreciated!
  7. Ive never had a modern race board, or these TD bindings, but...Ive always used plumbers tape on all my insert screws. just a couple wraps and my screws stay tight way longer than any of my friends boards ever have. I cant see how this would hurt anything, and it definitely seems to help. but again, with no experience with these particular bindings, it might not even be an option. thoughts on this?
  8. damn, base cleaner can ruin boards?
  9. <h2>AWESOME!</h2> gotta say Im a little disheartened with the **** talking. reminds me of when I lived in steamboat and some ******* "jibber" wanted to FIGHT ME because I was that "eurocarver fag" he always saw on the hill. and man..if I could carve like that on my heels in my soft boots...wow. time to learn some technique methinks
  10. off 25 as youre getting off the chair, skiers left, the second run to the left, not sure what its called but its not that steep. 15 is aight but way too short! Ive never taken my board over off 14, but maybe comin back up over to the main lodge..what...12? can see where those would be fun I didnt even realize they groomed back at 14 cuz whenever Im over there its in a soft setup in the trees!
  11. D-Sub

    New TD2s for sale

so did you sell those? got an email? Im in Orange County
  12. there are some sweet carving runs off chair 25. stump alley is or main lodge run are nice, but tend to be filled with people. slalom?
  13. still worn out from mammoth this week. maybe catch some of you guys next week, or better yet during the week. self employed so my time is pretty open. nice
  14. I know this is an old thread, but Im new to this board and am STOKED to find that theres a forum dedicated to carving! Ive had a burton PJ7 since 95 when I spent a season in Steamboat, and just this year got a Killer Loop GS 180. Just rode it in Mammoth this past week. Snow was choppy as heck due to all the snowfall and I SUCK riding fresh with a hard setup, but on tuesday I managed to find some good turns even after a whole season off-hill due to injuries anyway, livin in Fullerton. Never taken a hard setup to any local mountains because they always felt too small (or I figured Id get yelled at to SLOW DOWN at summit) would love to hook up with some folks, especially advanced riders who can help me work on my technique. I can get pretty low and tight, but cant quite get that square shouldered heel turn down yet. some day Ill look like Victoria Jealouse in that old Burton ad:)
