  1. Blablabla… I have been riding plates exclusively for 20+years now and have had to endure very harsh attitudes from skiers and snowboarders alike. Blablabla not softies!

    Think Snow!

So you've got your revenge ?

I've been hardbooting from 1991 and switched for softies 3 years ago, I consider myself as an Alpine snowboarder since I (nearly) do the same things now with my current setup.

So should I go on another community and learn how to make a mistyflip on a skate banana ?

I don't post often because of my bad English (I'm french) but I read BOL almost everyday, hardbooting or sofbooting topics, and you tell to guys like me to go somewhere else with my softies ? I won't.

Oh wait a minute, was it a joke ?

  2. Ha ha, I've just bought Palmer risers from a BOL member to put on my Eliminator and I'm really optimist about it's carving abilities.

I've seen someone here posting an interesting soft boots board from coiler or prior several days ago, a BX board, like a twintip with short nose and tail, but can't find it now.

  3. Just bought a 09/10 157 Eliminator ltd and I'm pretty sure there's no titanal in it.

The World Cup 165 has got titanal (They call it Titanium construction) but it's the only one

in the Eliminator range, and it's a rare board. The shape is slightly different too.

  4. A black 183 symetric Oxbow board, that's weird.

Oxbow used to make colorfull topsheets, they produced a few symetric boards the two or three last years of production but certainly not that long, also that nose is really long.

Is it the original topsheet ?

I'm not sure but it's probably a custom race board, or a prototype…

  5. Thank you all for your answers.

Well, obviously I wasn't clear enough in my description, Nidecker and Oxygen, like Volkl, old burton FP, UP, Speed, F2 RS, Rossignol, Hot Blast, and lot more boards can be found in France at great prices. And I've ridden many of them.

I'd like something different, I'm curious about Madd, Coiler, Donek, Prior…

Pokkis, thank you for the link, this is what I'm looking for, I'll probably ask you some help if I find something in my weight range.

  6. Hi all,

I'm 5'7", 155 lbs, 7,5 US, and 35 years old. I used to be an agressive alpine rider and now riding softies (Santa Cruz Duo GLX 159 + Burton C60 + Burton ion) in French Alps.

Still have Catek OS2 and hardboots with a Volkl RT158 for tights turns on ice.

I'm looking for a long alpine board (170cm+) that I can use with moderate angles (50° max for front foot). It would be my speed cruising board, nice edge hold, stable and damp, comfortable at moderate/high speed for non-crowded days.

Alpine market is almost dead in France (I don't want a Swoard or a F2) and longer boards are easier to find on BOL. I don't want a new board since I'm not sure to ride it a lot.

So if you got something I should like and if you are ok to send it to France, let me know.

    Thank you

  7. I've got Burton C60 bindings and Burton Ion boots on a Santa Cruz Duo GLX 159 and ride +6/-3.

    It feets me perfectly.

I started from +18/+12 but really felt uncomfortable and powerless. In the case of Burton C60 and probably a lot more soft bindings, I think they're designed to work with very moderate angles.

I felt the loss of carbon highbacks benefits with higher angles and couldn't find the perfect Boots/Bindings compatibility. So I'd say +12 max on the front… and I wouldn't try to look forward hardboots settings to feel more comfortable and efficient but improve my softboots carving technic skills. That's a personal experience so it may not work for everyone.

This is my current board, and you can clearly see the wavy sidewalls and edges on the pictures. I don't like it, it's a weird ride, I don't feel secure.

It works great for quick turns at low and medium speed, but doesn't hold an edge on long turns at high speed. I can feel the edges hook the snow and release several times during a turn, it's like having 50cm long edges between the legs and nothing on tip and tail. This is not a soft boots carving board.

And I probably didn't get the trick to handle it well.

Anyway, bought a more classical Duo GLX.
