  1. Finally heard from the kid, here's the spin;

Heat #1; Pierce won this heat beating the #4 German qualifier (who qualified 1.6 sec. faster than Pierce).

Heat #2; Pierce was ½ a board length behind the American leader (the #5 qualifier) 45 sec. into the race and he fell… not provoked.

    Ya, he was upset.

  2. Hey Guys, for a change we are still riding in the deep south! In fact we will close many hills with 100% coverage. An inevitable shame. We enjoyed great carving conditions today under the sun.

I'm wondering if they (Jeff) have started building the SBX course yet?

  3. 1st Football, 2nd Ski Racing 3rd Hockey 4th Water Skiing 5th Hockey 6th Soccer 7th Snow Boarding. Common denominator ....?

When I snowboard and ski race now, my family never say "Good luck!" I hear, "don't hurt yourself". Not very inspirational.

All on my left side. My left set of ribs has the flexibility of an 16th century stained glass church window. Along with both rotator cuff's hanging by a thread, I've trained myself to do "the move" a la torpedo, elbows and forearms tight to my chest. It works! Still enjoying all my sports.

If I'm not hurting; I'm not playing enough, or I'm drinking too much!

  4. I've heard pros and cons reguarding full face cover.

This subject came up at last years eastern Canada & USA TD seminar (fis for tech supervisor) Several strong negative comments, the strongest from an American Doctor with lots of (unfortunate) experience from full face helmets and neck injuries. My son who rides the sbx NorAm circuit has gone back to full face protection. I suggested a neck guard but I don't think they're very sexy... I'm particularly concerned with young riders wearing full face helmets.

    Comments please.

    - AOS point series (you can register at the race)

    - all curious and or wannabe racers are welcome

    - Ridge Run, the course we use for NorAms

    - the "pro" start gates are in

    - per all our races, a friendly, relaxed and helpful environment

    - volunteers are most welcome and receive a very custom T shirt

  6. I lifted this from a Nov. thread.

Hard Boot vs not so soft

We in Canada have converted the last (3 or 4) hard booters who have achieved advanced (NorAm) status to "not so soft" gear. I'm strictly a hard boot rider (my son was too), however I've seen the results. These athletes are riding forward forward stance and carving like us... The WC course features are not favouring the hard boot set up. The NorAm circuit (last year) still had some "banked slalom" courses. I believe we will see fewer of those in the future.

  7. and snow rocks! As a Cdn. we fulfilled our duty of enrolling all three (2 girls) in hockey programs. With the kids at 8,11& 13 we made the family decision to drop the hockey to favour full time skiing; which quickly became skiing and snowboarding and now pretty much all snowboarding. Mom (level 2) and I (level 3 and 2 coach) must be lousy ski instructors. At 46 I crossed over to the "dark side". I love having one foot in each camp - ya, skiers suck; oh ya snowboarders suck too. For the last 11 yrs our winter social and sport life as a family has revolved around riding on snow. We have made so many lasting frienships through the snowboard programs. Our oldest daughter made it to the Nationals for BX and now lives in Whistler. Our middle daughter was Provincial GS champ, achieved a 6th place GS at a NorAm in California, 10th place SL at 2003 NorAm / Nationals in Quebec completed a 4yr kinesiology degree and is living in Whistler for a year. Our son happens to be the Cdn. under 20 BX champ - riding hard boots and GS racing was a big part of his soft boot success. He is riding the full NorAm circuit this year. Mom and I are very proud and very broke!
