So... Pierce is in the last semester of a 3yr Architectural Technology program and scores one of the 4 spots to rep Canada at the World University Games (Universiade) in Turkey. Ya, Erzurum Turkey - Mtn.(sand dune) base at 8000, reaching to 11000ft. He has trained and raced, part time locally for the last 2 1/2 yrs. We, and he think he is racing students... The start list is posted. 14 full time WC racers (field of 47) 4 Olympians, 12 of them at last months World Championships in Spain. This reminds me of the 70's when the Soviets entered amateurs and the west couldn't enter our "pro's". Well, he finishes 6th!!!! Party on. On that day he was the top ranked full time student in the world. Proud parents! The word gets back to the Cdn. coaches. Pierce is getting his first World Cup start at Stoneham Feb 16 & 17.
