  1. It would be really helpfull to try some of these boards. My son (5'9" 165 lbs) raced WC last year on 167cm. Green boards.
  2. Proud parent notice: Our son (Pierce) finished 24th today (field of 70) 3rd ranking Cdn. He started his career on hard boots...
  3. I've really enjoyed reading the comments on the WC. I have great memories of my 9 months in NZ - back in '75. The firm I worked at (Mason Mesco) had an All Black prop in a corner office. He was much more productive on the pitch. I was lucky to see an international friendly with Scotland at Eden Park. Pissing rain and 50,000 plus in the stands. I played rugby in high school -English boarding school and loved the sport and comraderie. Given I still play soccer, I often remind my "mates" that the thugs game of Rugby is played by Gentlemen! I'm also 1/8 Welsh, but according to my better half, I didn't inherit the choral gene. I too would have loved to see the Welsh contest the cup. I still miss a quart of DB bitter and oddly the 7pm closing time. Thanks, for the memories.
  4. Feb 7 qualify, Feb 8 race Obviously the skier cross last year agreed with Blue Mt. (and Intrawest) For our peers who don't know southern Ontario, there are over five million people living within a two hour drive to Blue Mt! Tens of thousands of these residents enjoy sliding on snow. The "party" will be epic. The SBX will be a hit, especially with two local riders (our son) Pierce and Jake Holden riding for Canada!!!!!!!!!! OK, I might be a bit bias.:) My guess is,we will shortly also host an Alpine World Cup. That is the exposure we need for our sport.
  5. Sounds good Eric. I hope the possible WC SBX isn't on "our" Osler day.
  6. The Sept. 13 CSF line up for World Cup qualifying shows Blue Mtn - Feb 6-8 in Block 3 ! Now I'm excited!!!; to see my boy race in his "backyard" will be incredible
  7. Not this year. There may be some confusion with the WC SX Feb. 2-3?
  8. 2014 So soon! Not expected! A great boost for our sport.
  9. the Mansfield "Ski club" in Ontario has an Alpine program with 20 riders... Perhaps not as quiet as I scribe. Mike Lambert & Matt Morrison also trained at Mansfield!
  10. Marcel, Rene & Drew High Performance (Development) Simon Marcel: French, coached Pierre V. perhaps the best SBX rider today? Rene; Austrian Drew; our World Champion
  11. Hasbin; politics, politics. Bye the bye the CSF is looking for a new "leader"
  12. CaRtharsis- they raced on the lower portion of the mtn. I think a bit lower than the SBX course at Copper Mtn. ( lots of NorAms there). The course was 45 sec. long and is on the cusp of requiring more acclimatization. Their anaerobic energy gets them through the first 30 plus seconds. A longer course would have been a real challenge!
  13. So... Pierce is in the last semester of a 3yr Architectural Technology program and scores one of the 4 spots to rep Canada at the World University Games (Universiade) in Turkey. Ya, Erzurum Turkey - Mtn.(sand dune) base at 8000, reaching to 11000ft. He has trained and raced, part time locally for the last 2 1/2 yrs. We, and he think he is racing students... The start list is posted. 14 full time WC racers (field of 47) 4 Olympians, 12 of them at last months World Championships in Spain. This reminds me of the 70's when the Soviets entered amateurs and the west couldn't enter our "pro's". Well, he finishes 6th!!!! Party on. On that day he was the top ranked full time student in the world. Proud parents! The word gets back to the Cdn. coaches. Pierce is getting his first World Cup start at Stoneham Feb 16 & 17. He still has to finish this semester.
  14. FIS are very specific. The specs are listed in the rules. The Association of Ontario Snowboarders (AOS) have both, a travel PGS set and a travel SBX set. The PGS set are still FIS std. The SBX are out of date - not enough width between riders.
  15. We are looking for board options to run our (soon to be built) summer sbx course. It is a dirt & grass course with tight berms, rollers and many "air" options. We really shouldn't build the cart before we get the horse. Does the right board exist?
  16. My family and I are shocked. So sad. She was so happy with her month at Whistler. Eric, thanks for posting.
  17. That would be Paul, Matt's Dad. I to, am confused with the side cut... On a scale of 1 to 10; 10 being WC PGS talent, Paul rides at a 9.
  18. My thoughts exactly! Thanks Henry
  19. 3 in the top 6! Must be the "red neck" training
  20. I grew up with snail mail, telex and party lines. How soon we forget.
  21. Thanks Dave for the reality check. These dates are split (like the Olympics) Mon. PGS & the following Sat for the SBX. At least the PGS, H.pipe & SBX are at the same venue. The spread complicates the planning.
  22. will occur soon enough. Thanks Dave, for helping me to strive for 29 yrs... However, we're taking into consideration our hosts concern for numbers - carvers only. It would be nice for Alex to join us if numbers allow.
  23. I can do better. Chris, please add me to the list.
