  1. Reviving an old thread.....

I was given a set of 28.5 UPZ boots that fit well.  I tried them on a race course and was pleased with the heelside turns but felt the forward lean was too stiff.  Here's a photo of the springs.  Is the softest flex achieved by turning both nuts as far apart as possible?  And what kind of tool do you use to rotate the nuts?

My first car was a ‘73 Javelin. Thing is, it was only 5 years old when I bought it. All those 60s and 70s classic muscle cars are younger than me. The first generation of my Miata was still 7 years away when I graduated college.

I'm so old that when I attended the University of Florida, the campus cops drove Studebaker Larks!

Wow, that is gorgeous! Is that built on a VW chassis or something like that or is it totally fabricated?

This was the writeup before he bought it.

This Jaguar D-Type replica is said to have been initially built in the late 1960s and was completed under previous ownership approximately 20 years ago. It was acquired by the current owner in 2019 and was fitted with a replacement 4.2-liter inline-six sourced from a 1984 XJ6 in 2021. The car features fiberglass bodywork finished in British Racing Green over a steel and aluminum monocoque chassis. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox reportedly sourced from a 1967 XKE, and additional features include an XKE-sourced front suspension, a shortened Jaguar Mk II rear axle, triple Weber DCOE45 carburetors, four-wheel disc brakes, and replica 15″ Dunlop steel wheels. This D-Type replica is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a clean California title listing the car as a 1955 Jaguar.

  5. A half dozen years ago I experimented with different mounts and put together a short video using a GoPro 2 and a 3+.  Since then I've owned a 5 (which I left in Botswana) and an 8 which is a big improvement over the 3+.

I ordered the Max and a long carbon fiber selfie stick and plan on shooting some 360 video when they arrive next week.

  6. Have to show you what my brother just bought.   A replica 1955 Jaguar D Type.  It's hidden but there is a passenger seat.  The original is worth 3 - 4 million.  He owned an XKE in the late sixties and always regretted selling it.

  8. I'm going to show my ignorance.  What is the yellow thing on Ester Ledecka's front binding?  I don't think it was used during the race.

She had an unfortunate fall at yesterday's Big Final race at Carezza and came in second.

  9. I meant to post this earlier.  Last summer I was attending an usher's meeting at the Weston Playhouse in Vermont and thought I'd picked a safe place to park my '99 Corvette.  I watched an elderly (even older than me) woman pull in next to me.  I yelled STOP as loud as I could and fortunately she heard me.  One inch to spare.  I calmly said, "Ma'am, please step out of the car and give me your keys".  I was temped to ask for her license as well.  I backed her car out and moved it well away from the Vette....

    Thanks for the info Pat.

When and how long is the rubber stubbie course up for on Saturdays? Is it located on the NASTAR trail or some other?

On most Saturdays and Sundays I'll set one course with stubbies.  It will be open from 10 to 2 each day.  Best to check  with me before coming over pmoore (at) snet.net as I sometimes have to set ski gates on both courses.  It will be on the regular NASTAR trail Sitting Bull which is adjacent to the A Quad at the main base area.

  11. After taking a year off for COVID-19, Okemo will again offer Friday, Saturday, and Sunday NASTAR plus the Tuesday Innkeepers Race series.  It'll be my 16th year as Pacesetter.

On most weekends, I'll set one GS course with traditional ski gates and one with rubber stubbies for boarders.  We'll likely kick off the season around New Years.  Hope to see you folks.
