My wife, Catherine, and I attended Ian's clinic on Wednesday morning. Although we are both accomplished carvers in softboots, it was our first time on hardboots. Ever. We had only taken 4 or 5 runs before the clinic. By the end of the clinic, armed with the great instruction, and helpful drills the Ian gave us, I felt like I was layin down some solid turns. My wife and I made it out to ECES at Stratton on Wednesday and tried hardboots and alpine boards for the first time. We are both totally hooked. We are now looking around for some used gear, but in the meanwhile, does anyone know of anywhere in the Northeast where we can rent? We live in Long Island, and usually travel to Vermont to ride, so anywhere along the way would work.

Will there be boots available to demo? Do I have to pre-register in order to demo equipment?

By "must attend event" do you mean that you have to be there to win? I will be up on tues and weds, but wont be able to stay for thursday.
