  1. I have been using a Leatt Adventure vest for the past two seasons, I've cracked a few ribs, and I found this one to offer the best rib protection from my own elbows.

This is what I will be going with next season for both myself and my 9 year old. I like my SixSixOne (see post above) back protector but there isn't enough protection over the chest.

  2. Intriguing from the tread, glass snowboard, I found this solar snowboard video in YouTube.

The stored energy can used for boot warmer, iphone charger, or GoPro..what else? My imagination ends there.

I've pretty much watched every episode of Signal Snowboards, Every Third Thursday. It looks like a fun group to be apart of. Really liked the episode where they hacked up a brand new Fender Bass and mounted it to a snowboard.

YT Every Third Thursday, lots of fun ideas.

  3. Absolutely I wear protection. On the top, I wear a MX 661 back and chest protector. It works great if you wash out on heal side, and go over on your back, especially on the icy terrain in eastern Ontario and western Quebec, that is usually tree lined. I figure it should help if I ever get hit by a pylon as well. Oh and its warm and comfortable as well, so there's that.

I also wear a pair of Thor mx knee braces, not that I have bad knees but again they prevent twisting if I go over, and they're comfortable if I kneel on the side of the hill for anything.

If I could find a pair of hip protectors that I liked, I'd buy them.

I'm old and don't like missing part of my season with injuries. My protective gear is comfortable, so why not wear it?

  4. Jack, I'm not sure where and how you have calculated "d" or "e" but be careful as to how you apply those calculations to find "r". The formula for "r" is correct but I think you may be a little off with both "d" and "e". You are calculating "d" by taking the average of the nose and tail width then subtracting that measurement from the waist width, then taking half of that difference. That length may not fall on the circle in which you are trying to find the radius. There is another way you can measure this without averaging anything. Simply mearsure a length along the sidecut between the return radii of both the nose and tail. This is "e". Then measure the greatest distance from the edge of your board to line "e". This measurement is "d". It must be done at the midpoint of "e". This can easily be done by using a known lengthed straight edge for "e" then measuring "d" in the middle of "e". You can then use r = d/2 + e2/8d and it will be true. If you need to see the geometric interpretation of this I will eventually send it to you.

    Good Luck

I just "did" algebra and I'm pretty sure I got the right answer. Unbelievable. If the high school math teacher could see me now.

Thanks for the info guys! It was a big help.
