  1. I re-evaluate my setup because of this and similar posts, so here is what I was and what I am now:

    a) sex at birth

    male

    b) height (socks or barefoot) cm/inches.

    5'7"

    c) inside leg measurement (socks or barefoot, floor to pubic bone) cm/inches.

    32

    d) binding centre to binding centre distance for hardboot free carving, cm/inches.

    20.5

    e) binding angles front and rear

    66,60

    f) front toe lift and rear heel lift degrees

I was riding with td3 sidewinders, blue rings and pads. 6 degree toe lift onlt in the front, and 3 degree ring in the back, at 83 degrees, someone smarter than me/ with the td app could figure out the heel lift and inward chanting. I've had this setup for a good few seasons. It felt like I had the support I needed on my legs for energy transfer on the rear leg which is why I had it at that setup. Boot chanting also was a bit off, but I don't remember the direction. After some time riding, my back leg calf would always be sore. My toeside carves were good, but my heels ides often would skid out and never felt as powerful.

I just re-evaluated my setup based on this and similar threads and discussions. I am now at:

td3 sidewinders, blue rings and pads. 6 degree toe lift onlt in the front, and 3 degree ring in the back, heel lift only. I also checked and adjusted my boot chanting to be more neutral. Results have been very positive for the first couple days. Carves feel more natural, more comfortable, and no longer have the rear leg calf soreness. My heel sides improved quite a bit and carves felt tighter. Toe sides don't feel quite as strong but are still close. All in all, it has been a great improvement! Planning to try other boards too to see how well they do.

    g) boots: Deeluxe, Mountain Slope, UPZ, Other - specify

    UPZ boots, m25.

  2. Gunsmoke was great as always! There were a couple of small groups of sotfie carver groups, and saw two hardbooters once. I adjusted my binding setup a bit and it felt a lot better, could make tighter and cleaner turns. All in all a great weekend!

Sounds great. I dont think i can make it there but hope u have a great time!

So there is a good chance we won't make it to June this weekend due to some unforseen issues. If that is the case, we might make a day trip to summit on Saturday. Any chance you might be around?

I had a long day on the medium blues (open to close, Vail). On a 25.6/25.4cm measured foot on 25mp boots (US 7). Ouch did my instep hurt a LOT towards the end of the day.

Curious... I have a very high arch/ instep, and I am also an 25mp boot. I see you mentioned large calves, is your instep high as well?

Is the pain due to pressure points or do they just eat up too much space so it all around tight/ hurts?

Have you tried the fit insert along with the normal power ride? Looks like it is designed for pressure points.

Same here. I bought recently old RCR. That tongue was so hard, just to get in the boot was nightmare. I installed DGSS and bought new soft one hinge tongue and I can’t believe the results. The boots are now absolutely perfect

For those that replaced the tongue too, how do you ride? What style?

I have heard a lot of flex is needed in extreme carving/ laid out carves, and racing is the opposite and it seems every boot manufacturer makes parts to stiffen the boots more.

Are you more on the laid out carve side or more of the standard/ "bomber" style?

Also are your binding angles above or below 55*?

  6. I hear June and Mammoth should be very good following the current storm! June was posting how they were having to unburry the lifts... I am busy this weekend and then it's holiday weekend so busy / pass blackout, so I will be there 2/24 and 2/25.

  7. I've also mounted to the front of the board with a go pro, found to use the surfboard mount - it has more surface area and and should adhere better and withstand atleast some weather better. But always keep a leash.....

Even then it's difficult to detect when if fell off when you are in the carve.

This is footage before the surfboard mount, and also when I was also trying to record some of my posture issues.

  8. Yeah ride boards seem to have been less active. I try and post when I am somewhere, but for example with MCC canceled most of the crew is in the PNW but no postings there.

I have been wanting to put out a feeler for southern (and probably northern) California boards to see if anyone is interested in a slightly organized meet up like we used to do (Sierra Nevada Expression Session / SNES) but not sure I would have more than two people even see it.

I have a feeling a lot of people have found Facebook groups, personal contacts, or other forms of communication, or just commit to being a lone wolf.

Try adding a piece of duct tape to the bottom of your heel to keep snow from packing while on the snow.

I use a stomp pad with lots of spikes for this very reason. I believe it is crab grab brand, seems to hold up well to the abuse

This is a double posting.  I posted it in the PNW ride board also...

    Hey All,

I'm heading to MCC by way of Spokane, WA.  Wondering if any of you who are going to MCC will be at Schweitzer on Sunday, 1/28/2024...  There seems to be rain in the forecast for that day, but I'm gonna risk it as every time I try to go Schweitzer after MCC, either I'm too tired, or there is a snow storm...  Please let me know...

    Cheers!

    Tim

Still headed there tomorrow? We just arrived in Spokane and got the cancelation message when we landed. Looking to hit up somewhere this week! Send me a message if you'd like!
