Have a look at the Rome Targa, good stiff highback, ankle strap with stiffening inserts, MUCH cheaper than Co2's, better built than Ride and built to last...mine did 130 days last season. I am riding them in the video link below.
Probably the most adjustable binding on the market. Also look for 1 or 2 yr old Rome Folsom boots (softer this year), as a viable alternative.
Hope this helps.

Agreed, although in some situations it isn't.
On lower angles it is very responsive, once you start getting up to 25+ it gives way pretty easily. I'm guessing this is different with each person, as not everyone has larger legs to mush them.
To each his own, can only say from personal experience.
I ride lower angles so haven't come across this phenomenon.

Sean overnighted the missing parts to me. I just want to make this clear: he provides excellent customer service!
As for my plate, I did race on it and placed 4th and 3rd, respectively (Men's Open class), but cannot yet give a good report, as my setup wasn't optimal. See my other post under Carving Community about my plate setup and the issue I had with bindings.
You looked pretty damn fast/competitive to me!

Always love watching you ride...Keep us posted on the boards!

Most of the Instructors in our locker room have now shied away from 32's, great boots ...for a short while.
I ride around 130 days a season in softs and as my background was hard booting, I carve a lot and prefer a stiffer boot.
Any recommendations are subject to your foot being the same shape as the manufacturers foot last, they are all slightly different shapes for the same given size ie if you fit a Burton you probably won't fit a Rome and Salomon is somewhere in between.
As well as the Malamute and the Driver X, have a look at the Rome Folsom, an excellent freeride boot and built to last 100 days plus. I've even sold on previous pairs and the buyers have got another half season out of them.
Hope this helps!

Mac-got yours, you're in the number 2 spot. I will check on postal rates for you.

Thanks, but I think I have found my dream board already!
-
The board was built for my 175lb frame. I had an off-the-shelf Donek and just found it a tad stiff, so asked Sean to build me one about 20% softer....and the result was amazing!
If I didn't have to sell this board, I wouldn't.
If anyone needs better quality pics, I can e-mail the full size version to you.
I'd love this board to go to a good home, it has been loved and nurtured and under the storage wax is a race-ready perfect structure...and a heart of Gold!

I had this board made for me a few years ago and now no longer need it. I always said I'd never sell it, but now my bank account says different!
A super smooth, lively ride, super quick edge-to-edge, light and easy to fall in love with!
Stats (still on the Donek site Race specs under DRAYTON 175 PGS)
175 length
164 running length
13.2m sidecut
Nose 23.58
Waist 18.50
Tail 23.27
Stiffness 5.0 (great for lighter weight riders/women)
Black topsheet, Carbon Electra base - no graphics.
Looking for $200 plus shipping.

I know its out there.... I'm still waiting.
-
Is the board still available, I'm very keen.No questions, if it's available, I'll take it!
-
Makes you appreciate what these guys do...now add five more riders!
Hoping the SBX I do tomorrow is nothing like that!
-
Well, turns out the SL is a 160, with 145 effective edge, 18.5 waist and assym core, sidecut and camber.
It arrived a couple of days ago and I rode it today between lessons and found it producing a slightly wider track on the heelside. Then I accessed a dark corner of my memory I remembered that it needs a diagonal movement rather than lateral, pictured Nerva and Bauer waving their arms around...and had a blast!
Assyms are a the "Dogs Bollocks"! You do need to have your act together, this is one powerful puppy. I think I will actually race on it.
Thanks for the info guys.

I'm trying to decide between Nastar and Usasa, can't afford both. Good to see you are still charging!

Of course I remember you, always look out for your results... Looking good!
Still here in Park City... livin' the dream!

Now Gilmour...are you going to own up to having the matching outfit? You do have it, don't you....

ohhh... I couldn't afford one at the time, but I'd be interested to see how those actually work.
I'll keep ya posted!

The Burton ICS system came about because their 3 hole patent ran out but they wanted to make sure that you had to buy their bindings
Several of my Instructor colleagues have found that with soft boots after a full season of use, the bindings do start to wander and loosen on their own. I would imagine with the additional pressure from your boot/binding set up that this would happen much sooner.
I know that you are attached to the Custom but you will find that the new version is more freestyle orientated than your trusty old steed, less torsionally stiff and no longer as grippy on ice, nor as stable.
Blasphemy I know but have a look at some of the 4 hole offerings on the market such as the Never Summer Raptor, my personal freeride fave. Try and demo one if you get the chance.
Good hunting,
Martin

Great riding as usual, I thought I was odd favoring Slalom boards, just blamed it on my love of skateboard slalom. Here in Park City, when it's busy they are the logical choice. In fact I have an old school board on the way that should be super fun...in a scary way, Aggression Stealth SL. I can't wait, my Hot Blast 160SL is already jealous!
