From the pic above you have plenty of adjustment to go down in boot sizing. With a fair bit of play to work on the bias.
You definitely want to change the angle of that binding. The boot out will be horific...

That 178 is interesting. I'm assuming that the radius will be even longer than the 18/19 172.
Hopefully not the same jump in radius as between the Desperado IV and V.
Has anybody here had experience with these boards for "North American" weight riders? Comparable flex?

I like that idea for all mountain and powder. Possibly relaxed carving.
Now just design a step-in without the lateral rigidity of INTEC/FINTEC and I'll be throwing dollars at them!
Kemper boots from the late 80's had this idea. With enough straps and duct tape you could make them work but they didn't last long. The lower shell edge ate liners...

That is a lot of unsupported length on the heel piece fasteners. I would source the highest grade bolts and T-nuts I could find. Possibly going up a size in diameter.
Even then I would expect to bend the fasteners with aggressive carving or higher rider wieght. The Intec heels will create a lot of torque.

Definitely not an all day ride. Great performance on a hard race course but would be hell on all but the most perfectly groomed "Hero" snow.
As I get on in years (and size), I enjoy cruising as much as charging every run. I have gone to a much softer settings on my boots, Suzukas with BTS (yellow/blue). I find it much easier to vary the size of a carve and adjust for changing snow conditions with a little more boot flex.
My old Raichle 323's that have the cuffs pinned and a locked RAB tend to gather a lot of dust these days.

Most days I ride alone. It is rare to see another hardboot rider on my local hill.

How many days do I carve in hard boots? All of them....
I only have soft boots for shoveling the driveway and walking the kids to school on a cold morning. LOL

I agree with most. It wasn't ski season until you saw the latest Warren Miller film. I especially enjoyed the years with Scot Schmidt and Glen Plake. (Steep couloirs on 215 super G skis? Are you insane???) I feel those two paved the way for today's level of extreme skiing and boarding.
Heading up today for a few runs, with thoughts of Mr. Miller.
