  1. Cool deal Lance! Glad to hear you are on the HB set-up again. Thanks for the info on conditions. Will be heading up with the whole family next week.

FYI - I have a new oven to bake liners if you ever want to mold your thermoflex liners let me know.

Have fun and leave some ruts for me tomorrow. Thanks! Tom

  2. Hey folks! Winter here in California is lame this year - so I am bored.

Been thinking about what length boards I have been riding Plates Systems with (i.e. Bomber Boiler, Donek Plate, Apex Plate, Tinkler Plate, SG Plate …..etc). Thought I would put it in a poll to make it interesting to see what everyone is riding.

What length boards are you riding with a plate system (i.e. Bomber Boiler, Donek Plate, Apex Plate, Tinkler Plate, SG Plate …etc.)? You can select the multiple lengths you ride a plate with.

    Have fun!

Mods - feel free to move this thread if you think it should be somewhere else.

  3. BarryJ, If you want to escape the crowds, Hokkaido is the place. One of the best days I ever had in Japan was at Rusutsu resort on a day after it snowed about 8". The groomers on the larger side of the mountain were amazing and uncrowded. It seemed like the whole mountain was open (like Mammoth) so you could hit all the powder lines. The were some locals on powders boards with hardboots and Bomber bindings doing tree runs. You might give a shout to BOL member Flywalker as Rusutsu is his home mountain. I have heard great things about Niseko as well. Have fun! Tom

  4. Hey BarryJ, Where are you heading to in Japan? There are many resorts in Japan as others have stated. Hokkaido is by far the best in my experience. If you can't make it to Hokkaido, I would check out the Nagano area or even some resorts in Gifu (north of Nagoya area). There is a resort called Echo Valley in the Nagano area (near Suwa city) with a lot of alpine riders or Dynaland resort or Ciao Ontake resorts in Gifu. Many of SG Japan riders are based out of Dynaland. You might even be able to rent gear at Dynaland through their snowboard school if your feet aren’t too big.

The link below is a useful resource for resorts in Japan.

If you plan ahead real well, you will have a great time.

Riding in Japan is a different animal and usually more crowded than USA (even more crowded than Mammoth!). I had many good days there and met many super cool people.

    Have fun! Tom

  5. Hi amjet12, Welcome to Bomber. Where are you located in Japan? I lived in Nagoya for 7 years so I can relate to your gear challenges there.

Do you want to buy a local made board? If so, I can post some links for softboot carving boards if you would like. Some of the local brands like Moss, Gray, BC Stream and Yonex have some nice boards.

I can also recommend some shops around Nagoya or Tokyo if you need.

    Let me know.

    Thanks! Tom

  6. Andy, I have had the same thing happen with liners I molded myself. Been running them for few seasons without any trouble. Would keep an eye on the liners as you use them for any odd wear marks in the outer fabric. If you notice anything strange or have pain in that area, you can always remold them. Hope that helps! Tom

  7. Gcarve, I was just up there earlier this week. Received some fresh snow so it was like mashed potatos the first few days. Recommend you base out of Stump Alley or Main Lodge for the best snow. Have fun and watch the soft snow in the afternoons - easy to stuff the nose. Have fun and enjoy your spring riding. Tom
