Always makes you feel good when you come upon one of those blank stare skiiers that stops you and says "That is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen"
Yeah, second that. Couple days ago I got props from a skiboarder practicing ballet at the Basin. The Basin outlawed ballet and skiboarding years ago but this one slipped through. "Beautiful carves" is hollered as he past me spinning like a top on his skiboards.

NO, Bret. Very cool kid. Loves to go very very big and thinks rockers are for skillless hacks. Power steering for the under privledged. We had a long talk. Very polite, educated and well spoken in the world of snowboard performance. Nice change from the bro bra pants on the ground park monkeys that dominate most areas this time of year. Very limited terrain and lots of blending of multiple skill levels. Interesting time of year to say the least. And man the SNOW is ROCKING! Most excellent conditions for late Oct!was his name "Mark"???Think Snow!

Saw it actually. Kid was anti-rocker the hole way. Lots of good reasons also!
Saw it at Loveland 10/30/2010.

15 yrs riding race plates riding everyting from big GS decks to backcountry excursions and never broke em. Not even the very light and flexy Carbon Race Plates. I think many of the Race Plate failures were due to improper set up and abusive riding technique not faulty design. Still a very adequet binder imho. :biggthumpBig thumb up to Joerg for helping keep this binding alive and good luck on the new venture.

In general, a board with a plate on it felt a bit softer than without. Some of the testers can definitely chime in here and give their feedback as well. Depending on where you typically stand, it can be easier to overload the shovel with a plate. We did, as a result make some flex pattern alterations to minimize this effect. Interestingly enough, these alterations had little impact on riding without a plate if coupled with the newer VSR sidecuts.
It was very easy to overpower the nose in its origional configuration, so much so that you had to get it back to centered (stance) and not drive too hard for fear of turning the snowboard into a submarine. Once the nose was flex modified this wasn't a problem any more. I think Apex was trying to control this overpowering with the bumpers under the long nose but I saw first hand a failure that I am positive was induced by this design. I think they were demanding too much from the plate by asking it to be a isolating mechanism and a force multiplier to assist the nose.

My Experience is thus...Taken by our son last season to celebrate 25 years of Carving
http://www.youtube.com/watch? The Downhill Run at Milk is a Black
2nd time in HB's in 25 yearsIsolation Plate experiences: Late 70's or early 80's Took 1 run from Sundeck on Aspen Mt. to town, down Spar on a Snowster
also at Milk in 86 took 1 run on a thing some guy from Switzerland asked me to try when he saw me carving my snowboard
It was like the snowster but had two skis instead of two twin hulls...Pic of a Snowster included thanks Bryan!
I added Booster straps to my Elite 150 so I could Carve it, I make my 3 strap bindings now so I can Carve the way I want
to say I do not have experience or do not understand the Dynamics involved to Carve a Snowboard or comment about an
Isolation plate is of course a Lie...
I started Snowboarding 26 years ago when I was 38 years old after Surfing all my life and Skateboarding most of it plus
Skiing up until I started Carving...I came to Bomber with ONE thing in mind...to share my Love and Experiences about Carving
The so-called notion of having an agenda to try and push people here to convert back to SB's is totally absurd...HB's are
better at Carving on very steep pitches and for Racing at speed of that I have no Doubt...I wish the best to all here
A little respect is definately in order. Bob has been around riding softies (carving) better than a large percentage of plate riders that ride race decks that are active here on BOL. He has more surf/ski/snowboard experience accrued then most of you could ever dream of and he has a history in each of those respective sports that is noteworthy but, you would never know it from him, he is a very modest and genuine man. Ever wonder who grassrooted the effort that granted us (snowboarders) access to Ajax, thank Bob! The man has skills, and I am very pleased to know him and call him a friend. Show some respect.

For what it is worth, I was there during the last major La Nina a decade ago. I went out to Mt Baker, and that was the year all records in 60 years were broken. It was insane. I've never experienced that massive snowfall again ever since then. This year, my lady, my neighbor, and I are intenting to spent a week out at Mt Baker in Feburary. I just hope it won't be too much snow that the entire mountain was closed (that happened once a decade ago -- the debris were the size of the bus -IN- bounds!).
Yeah, 98/99. I was living in Everett working for BF Goodrich Aerospace at the time. Remeber fondly being trapped a couple of times up at Stevens when the road slid over. Usually didn't happen until closing time at night, bar would fill up and start serving boilmakers until the road reopened. I have NEVER seen that much snow in my life. Driving to Baker was an insane trip though snow piled so incredibly high it was almost scary and certainly surreal. I believe it was a 1140+ inch{93ft} year for Baker. And correct you are Lee, Baker is the MECCA. Awsome place to ride.

I like to exercise the full color offerings from Carhartt. Dark brown insulated pants for the mild spring days and duck insulated bibs (full zip and scotch guarded to the bejesus of course) for the super deep days. They come equipped with chain saw bar oil stains and complimentary sawdust in the pockets left over from previous work. I have been breaking these out primarily in the spring season for quite some time now and they just don't ever die. Black, customized tripple front pants for the long summer logging season, probably not the best color choice for the sweaty summer days in Colorado but hey, I am the man in black. I'll try and find some pics for Michael so that he can utilize the color ways for his fashion matching.

Carhartts. You know, the full zip insulated ones the you so love to give me **** about. Might clash with your other fashion choices, but you know they are badass and look damn fine also. Might help you achieve that bad boy image you so desire:D

Istvan,
I could do another "American Chopper" type thread on the process if people are interested? I would start with the heavy-arse press we made to get these Carbon Fiber plates going.
Interest?
That heavy arse press is a thing of beauty. You can tell by looking at that it was built with skill. For those of you who enjoy fine things, this can be added to the list. The final product is going to be incredible but the tooling going into it is equally incredible. Post up a pic Fin, its a fantastic piece of workmanship.

Rebecca and I get four months off a year. We work for ourselves though, and no one pays us anything if we are not working.
Two weeks off a year was never going to work for us. It is really outrageous!
Like your style. Works for me also! Now, to stay injury free for a bit and get some of this eight months worth of work done. Winter is fast approaching.

Kress: long boards are boring... they do all the work for you...
Just make sure that you bring something other than chicken legs to Aspen this year.

I have been in Aspen 3 times in the last week, unfortunately to work. It's a real bitch setting up ice sculptureres while in plain view or Ruthies! After the new years, I am going to to play in the decompression chamber (Aspen) for a couple of days of glutonous debauchery.
