  1. ummm, at the binding level it's called catek

cateks use an elastomer under the entire binding, the bushings used in my idea are used, like the catek; to protect the board from the bolts and adjust the flex

however, cateks flex laterally and they dont have much rise; AND not everyone likes catek so theres definately room for this kind of development.

once i prototype the thing it'll have the support bolts sitting at the corners of the plate (not going above the level of the plate) but with a tight enough spread that the plate wont bend under pressure.

again, once the thing is prototyped and ridden i'll make necessary changes

but remember, this thing is just an idea, not really something im trying to push on the world cup; im just trying to build something affordable that works for different riders, both men and women at any stance width, board size and binding angle.

  2. ive been working on ideas for a riser plate that is both adjustable vertical rise, stance width and flex. so far my ideas kind of run along the lines of using a mounting system similar to the vist plate (all the way between feet, with standard inserts) and the rise and flex are dictated by different length bolts supporting the plate with things similar to skateboard bushings (there will be a bushing underneath the bolt head so that it doesnt pressure the board hard) (going to be wider and be differing sizes) to dictate the flex. to adjust the stance with im thinking of just using something as simple as long bolts on each rail with a nut to keep it in place. (by the way, there will be 2 kingpins under each foot to keep it from flexing over the edge)

if anyone has ideas on this, feel free to throw 'em out there

  3. howelsen hill on little kid race day is scary like nothing else, we try to train and we're literally doing slalom on our 185 GS's between herds of small children; ive had alot of close calls with everyone between coaches and small children that failed to check uphill as they got off of the poma. we have a nice knoll on the right side of howie we set courses over, ive shot that thing in a course and gotten inches from an unsupervised kid that decided it would be fun to run the lower half of our course. sometimes this is just life; make sure you're always in control, and when you're not, stop and get your bearings.

  4. 3 hole system; comes with all necessary parts for installation, will provide an instruction guide if necessary.

these plates reduce chatter, improve dampness of the board and prevent torsional flex, a leader in the world cup

    275 USD+shipping

    works with all 4-hole bindings

  5. last time they lost my dakine roller board bag with 3 boards..but they found it and shipped it to my house intact a few days later.

i wish i was that lucky.... thats f***ed up; no one should ever have to say that about a company to which they hand over hundreds of dollars to safely: again SAFELY transport them AND their possessions.

  6. my board was wrapped in towels, put into its sleeve, my jacket and snowpants wrapped around it in a board bag, my helmet was in a hard case meant for helmets in my board bag and the tuning kit was just sitting in my suitcase as for pics... my computer is being rather obstinate so ill post them later but it goes along the lines of this: the board has a 2 inch section of edge pushed in about 3 mm, the base around the area is being pushed up about 1.5 mm and the sidewall is bashed in and the titanal on the top is deformed. the helmet has a 3x1 inch section literally broken off of the back.

  7. united airlines dented the edge into my kessler (right in the middle, magically; i dont even know how that happens), broke my helmet, and cracked my ACRYLIC box for tuning gear, now theyre making me drive 45 minutes out to the airport so a representative can inspect the damage.

PLEASE NO ONE GIVE THEM ANY BUSINESS FOR A GOOD LONG WHILE.

  8. us racers usually slide intentionally to control the speed we carry through the course, anyone can go fast, it takes real skill to hold it together in a course when you really are going fast. the slide is just a way to keep ourselves in control... usually. this isnt a race board but you get my point.

  9. being a racer at steamboat, all of the stuff we set our courses on is usually blacks, howelsen hill is considered a black from the top down (Although not from the first exit) then the run "see me" directly under the gondola, is steep but i cant remember if its a black or not.

you just cant haul @$$ on a blue like you can on a black. if you've got the cajones to do some serious speed, there's nothing like a nice smooth black to lay an edge on.
