  1. Add one to Alaska! We got a huge dump over Christmas and it's packed powder now. About as close as we get to "hero snow" here. Was trenching some deep grooves today... :p Just LOVE my new TD3s!!! Juneau Alaska: http://www.skijuneau.com/
  2. Thanks for explaining the pedigree of this beast! :) I thought about passing this along to a more worthy rider, but our area here isn't open yet and I really want to give this monster a try! My go-to board is a Donek Axxess that Sean built for me last year and I just ordered some new TD3s. Do you guys think I should try the Tanker with the TD3s or with last years SnowPros? It's getting cold and snowing so our little area will be open in a week or two! This will be fun!
  3. Hello Tanker Gurus I found this at out local ski swap here in Juneau Alaska. It looks like it has almost never been ridden, the base is pristine, and the binding marks are very hard to see. Can you tell me what year this is? Anything about this I should know? Looking forward to trying it on our usual "Juneau Powder" mashed potato crud!
  4. Say, Thumper Are you getting these from Dan Yoja? He has good sizing instructions and can aim you in the right direction. I got my UPZ-RTRs from him in January and they were perfect lengthwise. I also have high arches and had a little trouble with the tongues digging into the top of my arches until I discovered that the position of the tongues could be adjusted by moving them back via the velcro down by the toes. As the liners have packed a bit I have moved the tongues back to the original position. This works better than thicker socks. As Boardy mentioned, the new "flo" liners seem to hold up well. I agree that they are likely to last several seasons. I have about 30 days on them and the heels are still tight as ever. Great boots. "All this inertia is getting me nowhere!"
  5. I bought these new a couple years ago. They are nice high-quality boots. Pull the liners out and you will see several features. The liners are moldable, and they have straps on the back that link the liner laces to the upper part of the outer shell. (You'll notice a plastic hook in the upper heel of the outers that the web-strap slips into.) While you're there, you can see some velcro crescents near the heel of the liners that are designed to accept the foam boomerang pieces. These help if you suffer heel lift. There are also some plastic inserts that fit under the laces on the outer boot tongue that are designed to add stiffness. If you're like me, i want all the stiffness I can get :o (Hard boots will do that to you...) I use these with Bent-Metal bindings on my "Squatch" Lib-Tech Dark and the leather uppers and gummy soles really stick well into the bindings. "Darth-Boarder"
  6. Yes, quantum leap... That's the way today on the slopes was! So, I did the mega-Gilmour-bias with front at 60 and rear at 53. I couldn’t quite get 18.25 width so settled for 18 with the plates shifted back just a bit from centered on the sidecut. I pushed everything as far to the edges as I could (I'll have to get out the dremel and work on the crescent slots to go further <grin>) which ended up as way more Gilmour bias than I used to have. <FORM name=vbform onsubmit="return vB_Editor['vB_Editor_001'].prepare_submit(0, 5)" action=newreply.php?do=postreply&t=19926 method=post> </FORM> I went to 3 degrees of cant on the back foot plus about 1/4 inch of heel lift, and with the narrower stance that pain in my back ankle was not there even with the 53 degree back foot. Sweet! We had a rare for us "sunscreen required" day. The grooming team had my favorite run as flat as ever. The temps never got high enough to soften things too much. Basically as close to Hero snow as we ever get here! Okay, so the results... Don't you just love the sound of both gloves skimming cord? zzzZZZiiiiZZZzzz!!! I'm burning holes in my favorite gloves! Actually, for the first few turns I was skidding out just at the end of my toesides so I adjusted to pull the board when I felt that, and roll into the heelside. Toward the end of the day I was actually getting solid heelside carves with my forward inside hand on the snow, bonking my inside hip on the snow, and my back hand elbow against my front knee. Whoo Hoo! I think we may be able to get back into a "buddy link" with you tomorrow (Friday) evening around 7:30 your time, if that'll work for you. I'm now more convinced than ever that stance is critical to this Quantum leap into railing on both sides. Thanks for your help in making one of my best days ever! Mike
