  1. Nice! You slid quite a distance for going so slow. Was it really icy? Or were you wearing some nice, super slippery nylon pants:)

A bit of both! Spring carving at Mont Tremblant. Was +8C during the day, dropped below 0C overnight, back to above 0C again next day. The nylon shell added the bulk of the speed...

  2. I was introduced to Alpine 3 years ago, at the age of 45, by a good friend of mine. I tried softbooting before and could never get the hang of it (my arms weren't long enough). I bought some used hardboot gear, off Bomber of course, for about $200 and was good to go. (Just got a brand new Coiler VSR for XMAS!!)

    My only lessons were from my buddy, which lasted all of 5 seconds;

Lesson # 1. Point the board downhill

Lesson #2. Speed is your friend

    I’ve never looked back.

As mentioned above, I love the uniqueness of the sport. There hasn’t been one hill that I’ve been on that someone hasn’t asked “what kind of board is that?” or “how come you’re wearing ski boots with a snowboard?” or “Is that a racing board?”

Alpine is not dead, maybe it’s just very well kept secret.

  3. ^ That's great news, Phil. You're going to love your Coiler. Mine came with anti-gravity and crud-eating superpowers! :eplus2: What kind of board will it be? Definitely looking forward to seeing you make some turns on it. :biggthump

    Cheers!

It's VSR XTight, 169 cm. Old School Woody graphics.

Just need this stupid rain to turn to snow

  4. philipjo, LCI & Lovie :biggthumpGood Move !

"Don't think I'll go tomorrow. " WHAT  and miss it (don't take a chance) get your butt out there, may not be anything left when you get home ! :) :)

At my age, not sure if my legs can handle three days in a row!!

  5. I went to Loveland today after a trip to Bomber to pick up some parts. WHAT A GREAT DAY!!!! Back at the hotel now and legs are toast. Don't think I'll go tomorrow. I'll save it for Sunday.

Ink said the Wedge bar at 7:30 or Chair 1 at 8:30. You meet for breakfast?

  6. I will be in Denver next week and I’m looking for help on deciding where to go for the weekend March 12-14.(Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun depending on how the week goes) Have no problem driving an hour or two to get there.

This is my second year carving. The sole board in my quiver is a Coiler AM 172. Most of the hills I ride around Ottawa, Canada are fairly small and most runs are fairly narrow.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

  7. Just got a note back from Bruce. Said the NSR should be good even with my extra 15 lbs.

Saw the vids, can't wait to get out. I can't believe you guys hang with "PLANKERS"!!! oh wait...they're people too!!

  8. Too bad I missed it. My daughter had a hockey game on Monday night, I sort of have to be there seeing as I'm the coach...We have another game this Monday the 22nd. Going to make it out soon.

Loopback and I were at Mont St-Marie on Tursday. Conditions and the hill were AWESOME. Loopback was in phenom form..

    See you soon

  9. Ace, I'm 99% sure I'm going to be in Denver from March 9th to 15th (ish). Any chance we can hook up so I can try the Ferrari? Will save me on the shipping.

Side note, i may only have a day or two to ride. What do you suggest? I'm from Ottawa Canada where the hills are teeny weeny compared to what you have around you.
