  1. Hey John, How tall are you and how much do you weigh? I've got a long sleeve rash guard that may work for you. It's standard nylon/spandex, not 1mm neoprene so it shouldnt get too hot for you. It's size XL. I'm 6'0 160 and its just a bit baggy on me. They stretch tonnes so I think it should probably fit as long as you're not super skinny or super 'large'. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send it to ya for free.
  2. Does anyone have any Raichle or Deeluxe or UPZ boots in good condition in a 25.5 or 26. Preferably in Canada. A bonus would be if you live in the GTA so I could try them on before buying them and avoid shipping charges.
  3. What about paying for the person's package and enough to cover accomodation? I just got a camcorder this winter and have brought it out to the slopes a couple days. I love the process of videoing and editing. I'm just a new amateur filmer (as well as being new to carving - Haven't even tried boarding on HBs yet) so perhaps someone with higher end gear who does this sort of thing for a career would want more compensation, but I would love to do it for the price of the package and accomodation.
  4. ill take them if you'll do $67 Canadian, shipped to Canada?
  5. Has anyone tried on the Deeluxe Suzuka as well as the Raichle 224s? If so, does the fit vary at all? I'm trying to figure out if a 224 mondo 26 would fit me. I was able to try on a Suzuka 26.5 which felt comfortable and not overly roomy but my foot was able to move just a little bit and I could feel my heel lifting a bit. Burton Winds in a 25 were way too small and crushed my whole forefoot. So if the Suzuka and 224 fit very similarly, then I guess a 26 in the 224 would fit. If, however, the 224s fit a bit bigger than the Suzukas, a 26 would be too big. Anyone have input on this one? thanks
  6. Skategoat.. thanks for looking out for me :) I'm home now... been in and out (mostly out) since Friday.. just got back from a day at Holiday Valley. Really chopped up, mushy snow with patches of ice. Cxy. I'm still interested. I never got your email. I checked my junk folder too. Did you get the two emails that I've sent you? Im Geoff (last name starts with C) Thanks
  7. I'm still in line... waiting for response on how to pay from cxy
  8. hey Skategoat.. just sent you an email about maybe meeting up to do some riding. I dont have boots yet so I'll take whatever I can get at this point and then just get boots accordingly. ps. Thats awesome about the boots and board. I hope the boots fit. I'm really excited to try HBs. Are the boots standard or SI? I dont want to hijack the classifieds though. if you get a chance, email me Thanks
  9. i do!! Im first ;) Come on Skategoat, let a newbie get some gear
  10. Next in line... boot size Mondo 26. I think the M in the description is the size medium. If so, im very interested! This will be the first step to me getting a HB setup :)
  11. Thanks again for all the helpful tips. I'm currently a softbooter (because of equipment) but I've got the soul of a hardbooter. If I had known about hardboots and carving before I got my soft gear, I probably would have gone straight to HBs. I want to improve my softboot skills, but my ultimate goal is to make the transition to hardboots as quick and easy (less hard) as possible. I can't afford it now, but maybe next season I'll be able to get some carving gear. I've never taken any lessons before, but I think that is good advice. Perhaps when I get in touch with some people from around here, they would know of good instructors. I'm hoping to go riding with a carver from around here some time this season and he said he might even have some gear that would fit me. You've all given me lots to think about when I'm riding. Thanks so much
  12. Thanks so much for your replies, observations and suggestions. And thank you Willy for posting the video in the message. I see what you're both talking about and will be thinking about all of it the next time I'm out on the hills. I think the first thing that stood out for me was not finishing my turns and not travelling accross the hill enough. Hopefully that will be easy to fix, but I think the other stuff is going to take me a lot of time. Thanks again for your input. It's very helpful :)
  13. I tried highlighting the first part of the link that was pasted and that seems to work. Its a bit big and ends up looking grainy/fuzzy but hopefully it will be clear enough for some of you to help me out and show me everything I'm doing wrong. Thanks again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUqR0TFKSzo&rel=1
  14. the embedding doesn't seem to work. I copied the "embeded" code from the youtube page and pasted it into the message. What is displayed in the message is different from what I copied and pasted though. Any ideas?
  15. I have been snowboarding for a couple years now and really want to progress. I seem to have hit a bit of a plateau but know that I have a long way to go. I'm hoping to get a HB setup for next season, but for now I want to improve my technique the best I can on SBs. My bindings and boots are both cheapies/junk so hopefully if/when I upgrade them, that might help a bit. I'm a newb, but from reading through threads here, it looks like I'm reaching too much with my right hand and sticking my butt in the air too much on toeside. On heel side, it looks like im trying to sit down and I think that leads to my heels skidding out on less than great conditions. Are there other observations? It sounds like some of you have great drills for improving technique. Does anyone have ideas for drills I can do to improve and help me get rid of bad habits/develop good ones? 16. Thanks William :) I'll give it a try. Does anyone have any favourite tree runs or have ideas for tree runs to get me started that are on the 'easier' side?
  17. how about.... "tabernac! descendez de mon snowboard!" ? So what about trail suggestions?
  18. I'll be heading to Jay Peak for a few days and am wondering if anyone has advice which trails to hit. I've done a search and it seems that everyone suggests heading for the trees. I don't have any experience in the trees. Are there certain areas/runs that would be good for me to start out in? If I'm feeling comfortable in the trees, are there any special spots I should Know about? Does anyone have any favourite non-tree trails that are worth while over there? Thanks
  19. Not sure if I'm allowed to name the store, so just in case... there is a store in Oakville on Speers road that gives free tuning clinics every other Thursday. See their website for dates and details. I just attended one last night and it was really good. They cover base and side edge tuning and waxing. The guy that gives the lessons seems VERY informed and used to tune skiis for the national team. I attempted my first tune/wax today and feel pretty good about it. Hope this helps.
  20. Hey skategoat, I'm not that great of a boarder and don't even have carving gear yet, but I aspire to carve as best I can on a soft set up until I'm able to get a HB set up. It would be great for me to be able to see some carving first hand so that learning might be a bit easier once I get the gear. I don't have time this week, but if you're interested in doing the same sort of thing in February some time, I'd be up for that.
  21. Hey, Im about an hour from Toronto. If you still have the board, I'm for sure interested! Do you have any pictures you could post or send to me? Are there any scratches after those 3 runs? I hope to hear soon :)
  22. Thanks for all the great replies. It sounds like either the 169 or 174 will work out well. I think the 169 might be better because it would probably be a bit easier to learn on and if I decide to get a 2nd (longer) board down the road, my quiver will be more versatile. If I see a nice 174 for a good price though, I won't pass it up. Thanks for the idea about the F2 bindings Buell. It does seem like they're hard to find. YYZ, if you're reading this, any idea when you'll get some in? Buell and Alee, thanks for your input on the boots. It sounds like Deeluxe is the way to go with my narrow feet. I measure a mondo 25.7 so maybe 25 will work for me. YYZ has a pair of Suxukas at a good price. Perhaps I'll try those? Buell, how do you like the track series compared to your Suzukas (other than the size difference/fit). Thanks again everyone for all of your great input.
  23. Trying out the plates on my Dreamraider would be a good way for me to make sure that I like the hardboot set up before buying a board I guess. So what kind of boots/bindings would be appropriate for me? Please see my above post for what I'm thinking. Does anyone have experience with mounting plates on an Atomic Dreamraider? Hey Matt, I hope you have an awesome time over here in Canada. It sounds like you have more experience than me and will rip it up in BC. I spent about 6 months travelling australia and loved it over there. If/when you get a chance to demo the ATV and 4WD, you'll have to post on here how you liked them and how they compare to your current board. Have a great trip, Geoff
  24. Thanks Blue.. sounds like good advice. I'm old enough that I won't be doing any more vertical growing and am unlikely to put on much weight because I've been pretty thin my whole life. I think I'll do as you suggest and keep my eye out for a 169 and then if I decide i want more board down the road as I get better, I can pick up a more freecarve board. How about my boot and binding ideas? Any input there?
