  1. Hey folks.  Anyone make any commitments yet?  I'm still thinking Edelweiss but need at least 2 people to take advantage of their $99 for 99 evenings. It prompts you to add a "guest" if you want the deal.  If anyone is interested let me know.

Otherwise Cascades is looking a little more inviting now that they've got a brand new quad; not sure if it's a detachable but hey, better than that double-death-trap-accident-waiting-to-happen.  Still like the terrain a little better at Edelweiss...

I'd be in for Edelweiss group $99 with you.

I will probably get Cascades pass too.

Gatineau Ski Patrol unlimited pass was not offered this year

  2. How stiff is the FR compared to the apex? I had a apex and am looking for something a bit softer.

     I think it's softer.

The embedded "wing" under the inserts and raised stringers in the Apex make it stiffer IMHO.

I'm 220 lbs+ and can't lean on the FR as much as I did on the Apex.

Unfortunately I shipped the Apex on Monday so I can't  put them side by side.

    Hope this helps!

  3. I like when members guide me to links to Craigslist or Ebay that may or not be listings from other members.  Why not increase the size of the pool?

     I agree 100%.

Carving gear is hard enough to find as it is, why make it harder.

Even those ppl who may be just using BoL to unload gear...so what, at least the gear is ending up back in our community.

I feel better buying from someone with 2 posts on BoL via ebay than via email; at least you have some protection and can see their feedback rating.

This forum self regulates from a price perspective very well:

    -Good deals go lightening fast.

-Overpriced gear sits and the seller usually gets called out on the high price.

-Known sellers with good reputations gear moves faster and commands a premium price (Big Canuck, Oldsnowboards,Shred etc)

I just don't see how this harms our community

  4. No kidding. If you could buy these online I'd be all over it. I'm not spending $50 for a DVD after shipping and import fees though...

The Japanese riders have a very distinctive style; they focus on minimizing upper body movements.

You can get them on amazon.jp

    http://www.amazon.co.jp/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?__mk_ja_JP=%E3%82%AB%E3%82%BF%E3%82%AB%E3%83%8A&url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ist+pictures+installer

It will probably push well into $50 range by the time you ship and the gov't takes their cut though. 4000 JPY is about $44CDN$
