Hey all,
just a quick question: any harm using a graphite wax on a non-graphite base (other than the dark color on the base)?
I bought a block of dominator zoom graphite wax, but some of my skis/boards are not electra.

Hey all,
Question: Has anyone had a problem with the buckle on Raichle boots popping open while riding? Today on the slopes the ankle buckle on my rear boot released a few times during some hard turns. I tried cranking the buckle down real tight, and also riding it a bit loose, neither helped the problem much. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Kalalex: I was just up there these last 4 days. WOW the conditions were GREAT. Friday and today were GREAT carving hardpack. And Sat/sun were wonderful freshies =) Anyway, I dont have a definite plan for January, but I'm thinking one of the last three weekends. I cant do the first 2. Perhaps the 23rd? Go ahead ane email me. We'll discuss this more.

Well you'll be happy that they're a bit bigger than that. 1k-1.5k vertical at about 7k altitude. However, if you compare mammoth to the local mountains, you'll be hooked. Its really THAT much better. =)

There are a few small mountains (Big bear/Snow Summit, Mt High) that are about 2-3 hours from San Diego. However, Mammoth mountain (4-5 hrs) is a very popular destination for S Cal as its considerably larger (3500 acres) and higher (11,053ft peak).

Ben: I bought my heels used, and they didnt come with T-nuts. I had no idea I needed them! I already placed an order for those screws from yyzcanuck.
Steve: I definitely am lucky. I could have had a pretty nasty spill if they completely came out on a hard turn since they're already pulling out a bit. I definitely want to take you up on that offer. How much do you want for em (+ shipping to 90024)?
kalalex: I do about 2 weekends a month, sometimes more if the conditions warrant it. I'm participating in your thread on So. Cal carvers. We'll continue this conversation there =).

I have SB123's. And no they dont have an insert/T-nut in the bottom. It seems like they are screwing into the plastic, and thats why it feels like its not holding them im properly.

Hey all,
I seem to be having some issues with my intec heels. On really hard deep carves I've noticed that my heels have started to pull away from my boots. And on some occasions, I hear a pop, and a screw is a few turns loose. I tighten them as much as I can, but this doesn't seem all that safe. Do you guys have any suggestions on how I can alleviate this problem? Thanks!

Heheh.. i wish. Killer Loop and Madd are two completely different snowboard manufacturers. This killer loop board doesnt feel all that stiff or racey to me, I just wanted some more info (radius, effect edge, etc) just for my knowledge.
Madds are supposed to be legendary boards. I've never ridden one myself, but CMC seems to be the resident Madd hoarder around here. =) He could probably tell you more about them.

So with my SB123s, i just loosen the allen sockets on both sides to adjust the cant? I've tried to unscrew them before and it feels like I'm going to break something if i turn any harder. Is it supposed to be that tight?

I have a pair of Raichle SB123s and I've been told that these have adjustable cuff canting adjusters. How do I change the cant of the cuff? And more importantly, how much should I be adjusting them? I have pretty pronated feet due to flat feet (no arch whatsoever!). Any suggestions please? Thanks in advance!

Hi all,
So I'm trying to do most of my own tuning myself from now on. But I'm not entirely sure I'm doing things right so I have a few questions.
Waxing/Scraping:
I applied a coat of summer wax and I think I did that fine, but when I scraped just recently I think I used too much pressure. I notice some rough areas where the corner of the scraper roughed the surface up. How much pressure do I usually need to apply? How much wax should I be removing overall?
After scraping, I brushed the surface pretty well with a swix combo brush, then gave it a good buffing with some scotchbrite. This took care of some of the rough spots, but some still remained. Did I scrape too hard in the first place? How do I fix this problem now, short of a full base grind?
Edge Beveling:
I have the multi edge tuner from tognar, and I was using that set to 1 deg base and 1 deg side. I'm not sure how much pressure i should be using when filing, and the tuner leaves some scratch marks on the base where the flat portion of the tool runs along the base. Also, when working on the base edge, it removes base ptex as well. This portion is very rough. How do I tune up this portion of the base?
Deburring and polishing:
I have a set of 3 diamond stones. When I get a gash in my edges, do I use these diamond stones flush to the base and side edge to wear down the gash or at an angle to the edge? What about polishing the edges with a ceramic stone? Do I need to use a file guide with any of these to keep them at the right angle all of the time?
What do you guys do about scratches that are too small to repair with a ptex candle? I've gotten a number of small scratches on my bases that wax fills temporarily, but the scratches are pretty apparent after a few runs. What can I do short of a base grind?
Sorry I have so many question, but this whole tuning this is totally new to me. Thanks in advance!!

Well I went to the local ice hill yesterday for my first run of the season. Lets just say I'm a bit rusty since it has been 7 months, but WOOHOO!! Pulling a few high-g turns sure put a huge smile on my face!
I hope all of you get to head out to the snow soon. I so missed carving =)
Intec heel fit question

It depends. If you look at the heel piece from the side, and you can only see about 0.5" of rubber, then intec heels will not fit. But if you can see at good 1-1.5" of rubber (like seen here: http://bomberonline.com/store/images/photos_products/boot_deeluxe_sb413_lg.jpg), then heels will fit. I had to do a fair amount of drilling, both for the Intec cable, and for the 4 bolts, but it wasnt hard work. Oh, don't make the mistake I did. Make SURE you use T-nuts and M5x20 screws to attach the heel to the boot. Otherwise, your heel will stay attached to your bindings, but you wont!
