I really REALLY want to try one of these out...
6 mile range 20 mph? Carve down the hill ( while charging) and then power back up?

tahoetrencher ;)
If you think that the early prototypes are not "alpine" enough, here are two pictures from October and November 1986!
The board on the second pictures has a sidecut of 54m ... for real men!!! ;-) (The white stickers are again from the court case)
Thanks for posting, awesome alpine history tidbit.

Actually, the acquisition took place in '96. And yes, everything is brutally expensive.
Yup, Breck was $111 for a one day lift ticket this year...about $25 less than 1 way airfare from boston!
The wife has family in denver so we just bite the bullet as they have a slopeside condo.
(I usually pay $45 at the most for vouchers on CL for NH ski resorts.)

Thanks everyone.
Had a great trip, stayed mostly on peak 8 and 10. Monday was a bit crowded and actually had frozen East Coast carving conditions, saw MANY hardpack wipeouts. Had a light powder day on Tuesday with great carving conditions, then about a foot of COLD WINDY freshies on both Wed and Thursday. Friday was too crowded to bother. Not much sun all week but still very fun overall.
Tanker 192 has a small 10.5 meter sidecut so very controllable to carve in crowds and FLOATYLISHIOUS in the pow.
Would have loved to rip with the gang at Loveland but was stuck with the family slopeside at Breck. Hopefully next year.
Full price lift tix were only $25 less than one way airfare at $111...WTF? Had $69 buddy tix for first 2 days at least.
Lucha's downtown had fantastic $3.50 margaritas and $1 tacos for happy hour. Hot habanero garlic salsa was A+.

That was pretty cool!
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I think I'll stay on the groom and bring the new Tanker 192.

Just happened to have my helmet cam operating on a run last weekend. Could have ended MUCH worse. Skier did not fare as well... From what I hear, he ended up with a broken nose and separated shoulder. I walked away with a sore jaw and a big chip out of my board about 2" ahead of my front binding!!!!!
action is around 0:40 mark....
Headed to SES tomorrow, good thing I am not on crutches.....
I say keep it simple: CARVE PARANOID. I always assume everyone else on the hill is a complete fool.
Regarding the video: (I'm usually on BOL from a server with no sound at work)
It sure looked like that dumbass skier was staggering over to the carver to finish him off with a double tap!
I would have been swinging my board like a battleaxe!

We're headed out there feb 18-25th. I'm not a huge Breck fan but we have a free slopeside place to stay.
It looks like they are mostly open, but the snow in videos from this week looks like frozen crusties... similar to the East Coast...X^P
I hope there is enough powder to make the hike to whales back worth it. It should be fine for carving down below at least.
Hey locals.
I know Brokenridge is low on the preferred list, but has anyone been or heard anything?
I can only bring one board...with the lack of snow I'm wondering if I should bring a beater.

I'm going to let the auction run. I actually had them listed here in the WTB section but no bites.
The last minty Winds I saw on ebay went for almost $150. Still no bids but 35 watchers/snipers...
Alli, Burton hardboots do run narrow and the stock the burton liners are tough to break in. I actually put a packed out 28.5 Nordica SBH liner in my size 29 Wind boots ( same shell as the 28.5 with bigger liner ) and they are MUCH more confortable than the new original size 29 burton liners.
I don't think you can get replacement parts anymore, but if I had that toe rubber piece missing, I would cut a piece of foam stomp pad and stick it to the toe block of the binding. If the long wire bail broke on your heel buckle they sell similar stainless cable at west marine.

My head hurts just looking...GOT CISCO????

That's awsome! When was the pic taken?

That's GREAT! My kids have never advanced much past snowplowing skis in 5 years :(
At least my 11 year old started snowboarding this year...if you want to call this a year.

I ended up emailing resident BOL Goddess Michelle and she offered to sell a new intec t-nut kit for only $10.
I forwarded the info to the buyer with my strong recomendation and sincerely hope they go this route.
THANKS MICHELLE!

I go to Breck a lot and I'm pretty sure this guy is only turning hard because he almost straightlined past all his jibber buddies sitting in a line on a blind corner across Claimjumper. ( my favorite carving run )
-
I was carving at Attitash last Saturday with a skier in our group up from florida.
He kept telling me "Stop turning all the time, just pic a line and go straight."
He also tried to pass me on my blind side on narrow paths twice with the "Look out! On your right!" like a damned bike messenger.
I did my best to keep him WAY in front of me.

These were NOS intec boot compatable Physics heels/bindings that I sold to someone else.
I know they work with Deluxe/Raichle and of course burton intec boots right out of the box.
Physics come with bolts but not t nuts. (Burton boots did much better than t nuts, they have this big piece of alloy with threaded inserts for the heel and toe pads.)
The buyer requested I include the burton speed hooks and receivers with the bindings so I thought he had Burton boots until he sent me the pic and asked for help. I just want to do the right thing.
My plan was to get him the part numbers for the hardware and advise him to go that route. The theaded plastic looks crazy to me too...
It's pretty lame that they claim to be intec compatable but you have to drill the damn things to use intec heels...I don't know how "handy" the buyer is either.
FIN, PLEASE COULDJA PUT AN INTEC HEEL t-NUT/BOLT KIT IN THE BOMBER STORE???
-
I sold heels to a guy with upz boots and they had these crappy bolts that don't even fit in the heels. T nutting would be best, but if he reams out the holes a little and gets the same thread engagement as with the original heels it should be safe. Maybe get a longer coarse thread screw from west marine if the original is too short.
-
Does anyone know the exact part numbers for the T nuts/bolts to attach intec compatable heels to upz boots? I assume McMasters.com is the place to go.
Has anyone just used longer versions of the same self tapping screws they come with?
OR....Does anyone know why the hell they don't make them with T-nuts in the goddamned first place????!!!!

I haven't taken my other 4 boards out of the basement in the 5 or so years I've been soul carving my Tanker 192. Legit 1 board quiver. I even bought another as backup.
