  1. I've went through the archives... Cant find the model with this grapichs...
  2. Cheers I've found this HOT blast on a sell/buy site and am wondering, what year might it be... it's a 168 model and used for two seasons and should be in good shape for not much €... I'm really considering it, cause I need a smaller board. So, can anybody date this? tnx
  3. <o></o> Thank you all for your answers. I’m shore that they’ll all be very useful on the slopes. Sadly I don’t have any photos or videos. All we have is a crappy camera that doesn’t work very well and we rarely take it to the mountain with us. I’ll definitely try adding some heel and toe lift. We’ll see if that does the trick. <o></o> I’ve read stuff from the tech articles, carver’s almanac and such. I was more interested in tricks and tips that helped you. I can definitely touch my forward boot with my trailing hand. It could be that I’m not bending my knees enough or even letting the edge get the grip before I initiate turn… <o></o> <o></o>
  4. <o></o> Hello This is my first real year on my carving setup. Some say that my gear, specifically my board witch is a Goltes ProRace 180 with the radius of 15.7 meters isn’t suited for a beginner carver (8 years of soft boot boarding, thought). At first I thought wow, that was a lot of radius, but now, with a few full days on the mountain I got the hang of carving and am getting more and more confident. With this community’s help in the thread “Carving with a bigger radius” I've been able to make my turns way tighter then before and really enjoy the ride…<o></o> <o></o> There is a problem though… My backside turns. I can really rail the frontside ones. I dive in to it, compress, tilt the board and all, but when I try it in the backsides, I always skid. I just cant get the edge to grip. Maybe if I move my weight really back, but then I’m out of control and that really isn’t the point. Any of you have ideas on what might I be doing wrong? <o></o> <o></o> Just a quick word about my binding setup. Nothing to say about the binding angles. What might be important is the fact that I ride without heel lift and canting. I really like the idea from the extreme carving site, where they say, that the stance becomes normal when the board is flexed, so no canting needed. But today, after along hours of practicing the backside turns I was thinking… My board is 18.9 centimetres wide. That’s somewhat narrower than the EC boards. Could it be that what I need is lift and canting? <o></o> <o></o> It’s really a frustrating problem. I cant get that much out of riding, because I can not link turns… So, any help whatsoever will be greatly appreciated.<o></o>
  5. Hey :) Thanks to all for contibuting to this thread, especially WilliamBlake for the first reply... It opened my eyes and really gave me hope in achieving what I want in my carving...
  6. Hey all :) I'm not new to snowboarding.. been 8 years on a freestyle board.. This year is my first real season on a race deck. My boots are Head's, bindings are F2 titanflex and my board is a Goltes ProRace 180. It's a wonderful deck, have no trouble with it even in a crowded area.. have to slideturn there, though... The thing is: the board has a radius of 15.6 m... I've seen people carving boards with radiuss like that really nicely.. When I get the speed I can go from edge to edge with no problem, geting quite low, but I'm never able to make a smaller turn.. Really bending the board... Anyway, I'd really be happy if some of you with longboard experiance would give me some pointers.. how to initiate turns.. etc... Oh, and dont get me wrong. I knew about the bigger radious when I bought the board. I like it that way.. I like longer boards... Thanks for any help :) And sorry for my messy english. I'm out of practice..
  7. Ok, made this just for laughs, but my girlfriend really loves it :) It's more for her actualy... She's just crazy about squirrels... she has two chipmunks at home :) Amazing how this tiny animals get used to living indors... Ok, here's the chipmunk on edge
  8. Hello! Elan, a snowboard and ski manufacturer from my country (Slovenia) released new skis last year, (I think). Anyway, they developed new ski technology called waveflex technology. I'm shure many of you heard of it. They even won an award for it (European ski award), plus this year, they won the red dot design award for the skis. Here is a quote from the Elan's site (http://www.elansports.com/pc.asp) "Never before has a ski design allowed the seperation and independent optimization of longitudinal and torsional flex properties. characterized by the waved profile, WaveFlex Technology provides smooth longitudinal flex and powerful edge hold for versitale high performance skiing. ... " Anyway, do you think that this is something that could some day find it's way into snowboarding? Has anything like this been tried before? Elan doesnt make alpine boards anymore (they produced the excellent Balistic model)... I know that some bord manufactures read this forum and I'd love to hear their thoughts on this technology (or something similar) being used with alpine snowboards... Here is just a small picture of what it looks like in the rough:
  9. Thanks for all the suggestion. :) I know I know that the graphics are supposed to be made in a vector program. It's just that I dont know how to use those programs... And anyway, I'm still just playing with the ideas... And growing impatient as I wait for my first carwing day this season... :)
  10. I tried that, with the logo on the tail... It isnt bad, it's just that the shades of green are not the same and I dont think it works out... :) Here's the combo : Snake and logo
  11. Hello all! It's sort of a dream of mine, to one day buy a Donek board and when I do, I want to have costume graphics on it... To personelize it, i guess :). I'll probably buy me one in the next two years (I'm not really loaded with money and I have a good bord at the moment (goltes ProRace 180)). Impatient as I am, I'm already playing in photoshop, trying out some ideas. The people at Donek were kind enough to send me a tamplate of a 175 freecarve model (i think), so that's what I'm working on. I just wanted to show my first two ideas... Not really finished, but (in mine opinion) nice. I like my board to be relatively simple (some small additional detalis would not hurt , though)... Here they are... Sun Green snake (yeah I know... but I like the shiny green and black combination... :)) I hope there isnt a problem with me using a Donek logo. If there is, please tell me and I'll remove the picture immediately. If any of you have costume graphics I'd really like to see them. Pics welcome. (I will not steal ideas, I promise :)) Cheers!
  12. Hey all :) I'm selling my Deluxe 325 hardboots, mondo size 28. They're last year's model, been on the snow for only two whole days and a few more hours here and there. They're like new except for a few scratches. Most are from skiers in the lift line... The problem is I live in Europe (Slovenia) so I dont know how shiping overseas works... Anyway, I'm selling them for 200€ wich is something like 281,50 USD. I think that's quite cheap... So, if anyone is interested in them send me an email ( zabkar.miha(at)email.si ) and we'll figure a way to send them. Oh, and Im not selling them becouse of any defacts or anything. They're to big and too narrow for my feet. My new Head's fit me perfectly ;) cheers (and please, forgive me for my messy english:))! They are **SOLD**
  13. Thanks for the replys :) In all the excitement I forgot to use the search option... Found some info there too. cheers
  14. Hey all! Just got my Head's today, to replace my almost unused Dee's 325. The 325's were too big and yet too narrow for my hulky feet, so I've ordered my Stratos Pro's from Blue Tomato. Now I have them and I think they're perfect. I've read all about bootfiting and it all good. my foot length is about 26,3, My boots are Mondo 26.5 wich I understand is the same as 26 basicaly. I get absolutley no heel lift and they feel tight for now, so'll get those liners molded and that will be it. Ok, the question: I'll be fitting intec heels on my boots. I've read on the carvers almanach, that the inserts arent good... That means I'll have to change them. I have the new spikey inserts. So, I just need some guidelines or instructions on how to do that. I dont want to ruin the boots... Any help will be greatly appreciated!
  15. Hey all! I'm counting the days to winter (yeah, a long count to go), but I'm already planing everything. The thing is, I have this problem with my boots... or my feet to be exact... Anyway, the thing is: I have really wide feet and a really big instep. And I do mean big. My boots are size M28 and my feet are M26. Now, this may seem like i have way too big boots (Deeluxe 325s) but even in them, my feet felt like in a torture chamber. Now I'm quite used to them and it's ok. The only problem is a slight heel lift. I've put some padding under my foot to raise it a little... I must tell you, I can carve in these boots without a problem. I'ts just that the heel lift is somewhat anoying. I was thinking of puting some rubber under the tongue to put some pressure above my ankle and instep. This should hold my leg down. When I was buying my boots I didnt do enough research. I'm sorry for that. Now, I would probably go for Stratos Pro or UPZ, but what's done is done. I dont have enough money to buy new ones. Any thoughts on pimping up my 325's would be greatly appreciated.
  16. I'm really sorry to hear about that. I think what you guys did for alpine snowboarding is just unbelieveble. If it wasnt for BOL and this comunity I would still be on softboots missing out on something amazing, what hardbooting definetly is... Many would. With that in mind I honestly hope all will end well... I would like to hear an update. Best of luck!
  17. I've just seen, that at our local skateboard shop, they sell Sector 9 longboards. Are they any good? I can get a complete set for roughly 20€ less then on the internet... Are they worth having, and how are they for city travel?
  18. Thank you all, for your replys... I've checked the boards you mentioned and decided to go with the Gravity Hypercarve. I've read a couple of reviews, saw a few videos and stuff, and I really like it. And it looks great. Now I've just have to save up a few bucks and go and order it :) cheers
  19. Hello all... I really miss winter and carving... Lately I've been looking into longboarding and am now thinking of giving it a go. In Slovenia, Europe, where I live, longboards aren't that popular, so I'll probably order online. I'm totaly new o this so any help would be great. I would use the longboard for city cruzing and for some small hills around here... And I would also like to have keep the prize as low as possible... Thanks..
  20. Hello all! It eint even summer here and I'm already planing for the next season. I have good equipment, the only thing missing are the bindings. I have a Goltes ProRace 180 board and Deeluxe t325 boots. I also have intec heels installed on my boots, so the bindings will be intec. I've decided, that I'm going to buy F2's but I dont know, if I should go with titanflex or intec titanium... What do you think? Now, I've got the feeling, that people here would mostly go for intec titanium, and the people on extremecarving.com would go for titanflex, but firsthand info would be greatly appreciated... I the difference really that big? Do the adjustable front bail on the intec titanium fail often? ... pros, cons... thanks for the help! cheers
  21. I have a goltes ProRace 180. A two year old model. I dont think they make ProRace models anymore, but I think it's the same as a proCarve, but a bit stiffer... Not really shure. I bought it this year with a noticable discount, becouse it was an old model. I'm new to hardbooting so at first I was afraid, that it was too long for me, but after a run or two, the bord was amazing to ride. It felt really stable at high speeds... I havent had the chance to try it that much, becouse all my money went into this board and hardboots... Cant wait 'till next year, to give it a real go!
  22. I dont know actualy, if i will buy intec or standards.. SnowPros are more expensive here, so I might go for intec F2s... Is there a big difference between F.A.S.T and intec? With the feel of the riding I mean...
  23. Hello all! Im buying new bindings for my board and am not really shure which ones to buy. Now, the selection here in Slovenia is a bit limited so I am thinking of either SnowPro Race or F2 Titanium race. Any thoughts on what I should buy? My current bindings have a too much side flex... Oh yeah, and I ride Goltes ProRace 180. Just an awsome board... thx for the help, cheers
  24. Hey all.. Thanx for the replys! Unfortunatly my hardboots are already bought. I have put some shoe inserts (is that the right word?) under the liner and in the liner and I have put some padding under my heel so i get a sort of heel lift inside my boot. The resoult is almost no heel lift, so that will work for now:). Before the next season i shall sell my deeluxe boots and buy Head. I am from Slovenia (Europe) and I'm wondering.. Does anybody know where to buy Head boots anywhere near? In my knowlage, there are only Deeluxe boots available in Slovenia..
  25. Hello all! First, i must say, that this is a really nice comunity and it has been most helpful when I was looking for witch board to buy.. Now to the problem.. My fit are not that big but are really wide and my instep (I dont know if this is the right name for the top of your foot) is also big. The problem is that it is really hard to get a good fit with the hardboot. The resoult is a hardboot that is too big but still hurts a little even though i have worn it for some time, so my leg would adapt. There are problems though.. I get about a centimeter and a half of heel lift:(.. I really have no idea on how to fix this problem.. I dont think that I can have a smaller size of boot.. Any ideas on how to solve this isue? Thanks for all the help! bye
