  1. Wow, ok well that's great for me. Thanks
  2. I am going to Snowmass January 2 through January 10. I have been out of the carving world for 4 years. I am going to be in a soft boot set up and I am interested to know if there are any places that demo/rent stiffer directional boards that would be better for carving. Rich S.
  3. Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. That space is no longer available.
  4. Hey everybody, a part snapped inside my fintec heel slopeside last Saturday. I could not get my boot out - I eventually had to take my foot out of the boot and than walk one footed to a table where I placed board with boot still attached on the table and manually pressed both pins in to release boot. - Yes I am sure it was funny looking. Anyway, emailed Michelle on Saturday evening. Could not understand why Michelle did not call me back instantly :) Anyway not knowing that Michelle was off on Monday (probably boarding) I began to get desperate (perhaps I was on the personna-non-grata list) maybe she did not like Maryland boarders - who knows. Finally on Tuesday she emails me to say "Don't worry - parts on the way" Parts arrive today (Friday) Fintec heel repaired and I am good to go. (Free! replacement parts and shipping - even though I am out of warranty and probably did the damage myself by pulling at the wrong moment. So although it sounds like I am a shill for Bomber, I'm not, although you could say I was paid via the free parts.. so maybe I am?.. :)
  5. All, I have a 1Br/ 2 bed loft/ + pullout sofa at the Timberline. We had a couple staying in the room with my brother-in-law and myself staying in the loft. The couple divorced :-(. The ex-wife still wants to come, but we need someone to split that cost with. Best case is single female to share the room with the now ex-wife. We could also use a couple who would get the bedroom (then divorcee would get pullout sofa). I have the condo from Friday night thru Friday night of SES 2/5 thru 2/13. Anyone interested is going to have to respond relatively fast. I will probably cancel this unit in the next 10 days if I can't come up with a replacement 4rth person. Cost is $960 for all 8 nights. Unless its a couple in which case it would be 4000 /5 Rich Schneider
  6. Hey, tomorrow is shaping up as a possible Carver Convention. Currently 5 of us are slated to be there tomorrow morning at the opening bell (0830). The first 8 runs or so may be great. All carvers invited! Rich Schneider
  7. I am heading out to WT tomorrow morning, anyone else going to be there? I should be in the parking lot around 0815, driving a silver van with a board rack on top. I am really trying to avoid anymore near misses. I discovered on the last day of my 7 day trip to Aspen that Dave Budreaux (spelling is a wild and definitely wrong guess) a fellow bomber was out there too. My bad for not posting my presence. I really regret not linking up with him for more than the 45 seconds I saw him at the top of the SnowMass Gondola! So I am going to post everytime I go to WhiteTail so I don't miss any fellow bombers! Rich Schneider
  8. ok thanks to everyone (especially snowboardfast). I talked to JC at Prior and while he was ready to fix it for free, the shipping was going to be a lot and it was possibly going to prevent me from having my board at Aspen on the 24rth. So I used Devcon 2 ton as suggested and it seems to be fine. It definitely looks like its solidly in there and it passed test on day one at White Tail. So thanks everyone! Rich S.
  9. Yes that is the tail, and yes it looks like rust to me too. How it got in there and stayed there is a mystery to me. Rich S.
  10. Ok, well now I am very sad. I looked down at my board this morning, getting off the lift at WhiteTail (PA) and said what the $%&*^ is that stick trailing after my board? Then I realized oh sh_t! Thats the edge of my board coming off. I took it off and switched to board B (my Nidecker). I got back home and called Prior (not really expecting anyone to answer on Saturday after 4PM EST) and lo and behold JC answered the phone. I have no idea if they are are not going to fix it under warranty or not. I only know it was nice to talk to a person. He asked me to send pics, I did, and he says they will look at them and tell me what to do. So "props" to Prior for being there and caring. No matter what I have to have that board back. The difference between my Prior WCR Metal and my Nidecker is Night and Day. Rich Schneider
  11. Whitetail has been blowing non-stop since yesterday. Woohoo. Looks like conditions on saturday morning will be great. I am going. I hope to be in the parking lot at about 0800. Runs should open at 0830! Our season is starting - yeah.......!!!!! Rich Schneider
  12. Chase, I will call you on this. Rich Schneider
  13. thanks everyone for your comments and advice. I have modified from rapid switching to just working on holding the balance point on an edge. This seems to be very very useful. I find that working on just holding the edge and being stable (its very hard) allows me to explore what it means to twist the body and alter my weight forward backwards etc. This is much much more inciteful that what I was doing. thanks. Rich S.

Hey thinkin about 7 springs on Saturday. Any Marylanders considering going?
  15. The big deal, possibly the biggest, is that I wear this belt whenever. It provides the same concept as inversion (but more - as its actually positive force) but it does it all the time. I have an inversion table. I have been to the chiropracter more times than I can count. The belt replaces (please people no flames here) all of those and multiplies the result many times over. I always wear it when I drive and that alone makes all the difference. I used to dread long drives because of the inevitable low back pain. I wear the belt - there is zero pain. I wear it when I lift weights or go to watch games etc... In other words we are not talking about 10 minutes doing inversion, or 15 minutes at the chiropracter, and the resultants skips and misses - I am talking about 3 -5 hours a day, every day. That level of constant traction can not be achieved any other way that I know of. Net result - I am off pain killers, I have lost about 15 lbs (that was not a goal) but an inadvertant side effect of starting to lift again, because the pain was gone. This belt can not fix every problem. Any maybe it won't fix yours, but what it does do: 1. Push the lower vertebra apart 2. Support the lower back It does exceedingly well in a very practical manner. Rich S.
  16. Dave, you are kidding right? The only reason my pants are tight, is because my jeans only just barely will snap on over my lower back brace belt, which I am wearing. That belt is the only thing that keeps me going... It was either snap up my jeans or practice in undies which I think might have been a bit much for the video.... you knew that right......?
  17. try discdiseasesolutions.com also try searching for 'dds 300' which is the actual product I think I actually got mine from an outfit in Washington State. I will see if I can find a receipt somewhere. Rich S.
  18. Brad, please check out my video, about 3 seconds worth. I am wearing a belt http://www.diskdoctoronline.com/product_desc.php?id=28 which has significantly altered my life. I am an Ex Inf Abn Army Ranger. Somewhere along the line, one to many jumps crushed my lower discs. So much that I have been on acetominophen and ibuprofen for years. During Aspen SES 08 the pain got so bad I upped the dosage from the usual 2 + 2 twice a day to 3+3 twice a day. I know thats to much for more than about 3 days and some people go balistic on me for even saying this, so please no flames, I know its bad - but so is pain and so is the inability to ride because of pain - so it was a tradeoff - daily in my case. Anyway after SES I was getting ready to do the spine fusion thing when I ran across some propaganda on the above product. I tried it and within a week I was totally off all pain med. That would be the first time in 8 years!!! Thats a big deal for me. I have not been back on since. I wear this belt every day for about 3+ hours during the drive to work and for about the first 3 hours at work. Than I take it off. I also always wear it when I work out. Its on during all my practice sessions and I will be wearing it when I ride - all the time. Yes I am dependent on it. But I am off drugs totally and I have not had to have surgery. Why is it different? Because it literally pushes the ribs up, and the pelvis down, pushing the vertebral discs apart. Voilla no more pain. Check out the various web sites on it and if you care I can video a 30 sec clip of me putting it on and pumping it up (yes you have to pump it up). Rich S.
  19. Hey, Brad thanks for the "props" (I got this guided response from my 14yr old daugher !) It either thanks you for propping me up as I am about to keel over from old age or possibly it means you are propping up my sagging ego. Here are the Marylanders that I know about: BadBrad - Columbia MarkBrown - Metro DC DaveKempmiester - Westmister (Baltimore?) Rich - Germantown Who am I leaving out?
  20. What... challenge... surely everyone already knows that the WCR Metal is the best board. ;)
  21. Thanks to everyone who bothered to look at my seriously sideways video! I am absorbing the info. I am thinking about building a balance board as per Inkaholic. Note: actually my board does change colors. I have a Prior WCR Metal ( this is as admitted by all, the best carving board out there ) which I have polished up to be a better mirror than a mirror, so with each tiny shift an ever changing panorama is displayed. Note2: Its possible that I was on my Nidecker during the video (not shiny) Rich S.
  22. Phil, thanks for taking the time to look at it (any of it). Do you think that this will help? Will these skills/motions translate to the slopes? Rich S.
  23. I am looking for drills that I can do at home on carpet. I have been practicing going edge to edge and trying to stay on an edge. Its coming but it would be nice to know A. That I am not developing bad habits B. That this is not a complete waste of time I did search the forum for carpet practice and drills and did not come up with anything. Did I miss something? Or maybe nobody else is crazy enough to do this? My kids say I look something like a cross between an aardvark and a duck during my practice sessions. I live in Maryland. Theres no snow. I can't go anywhere else. I am going to Aspen 12/24 thru 12/31 and would like to be ready If you can rotate your head 90 degrees (and keep it there) than you can check out on youtube. Never having done a video (ok I am newbie I admit it) I did not consider the post shoot rotation problem. I am going to do this again the right way.
  24. Brad, I have ridden the last 2 weekends at WT. Both were suprisingly good. Noone there last Sunday and I had the slopes to myself. I was going to try and get to WT on their closing weekend but the forecast is for rain Fri and Sat, which may mean they are all done. Thinking about 7 Springs, but that is a haul. Maybe its time to put the boards to sleep until next year. :(
  25. Ok I will up the angles. I like the Wyatt Earp concept. Thanks for the offer up at Blue Mtn. If I can find the time to get up there I will definitely take you up on the offer. Thanks. Rich S.
