  1. If you have not found and paid yet for lodging for the SES, Sean Martin (Donek) and my self have just today ended up with room for at least 2 in a 4 bedroom house in the Carbondale area. Cost would be 550.00 each for 8 nights. We are getting there on Friday the 3rd late and leaving early on the 11th, Saturday.

Let me know with a reply or leave a message @ (208) 384-9231

    thanks, kenny tower

Any last minute decisions to come to the SES? We have filled one bedroom and still have room for one or one couple. We can provide rides to and from the area too. 8 nights = 550.00 + 20.00 cleaning deposit.

  3. Stands for high tibial osteotomy. Google it.I had this done about 14 years ago to unload the medial part of my left knee and just now am on the Synvisc to try to get more time out of my knee. I will be 60 in about one week. Check with a sports medicine doc on this to see if you are a candidate.

    <o></o><o></o>

Squatting and kneeling are the worst things you can do to your knees to wear them out.good luck

  4. I broke mine a couple of years ago from a compression/sudden stop. best advice is get a lace up support from the pharmacy and use it getting to the doc. I made it through two airports with help and to my sports medicine ortho dock and was lucky enough not to need surgery. In my case I think the lace on brace helped keep everything in place. Thank you for that Scott. Kept using the lace on thing with the big black immobilizing boot for six weeks and then good to go. Taking more risk may mean surgery if you are lucky enough to have the bone back in alignment now.

  5. Hi Shawn,

It takes a lot of guts to make that kind of a sincere public apology, and I admire you for that.

There’s about 15 of us local carvers here and I’m also a certified snowboard instructor who has permission to teach independent lessons at Mt Bachelor, so I think I can speak for all of us (and for K T who is also a certified instructor) when I say, your apology is appreciated and accepted.

You have shown your heart is in the right place and that you can learn from your mistakes.

And I thank you too Shawn. noschoolrider is speaking for me. Good job Shawn!

Thank you Tae as well for your clarification. And yes Tae, I may have ridden the lift with you as I do tele and ride a Burner on occasion.

  6. It was fun to see some familiar faces making some nice turns on the mountain and to meet some new riders and get acquainted with some others I have admired. I could not however make the last day because I have to say that I am a bit embarrassed about the conduct of a few riders that came to the session and have in my book left a very black mark on the hard booting community.

    <O:p</O:p

Has the rider that took out Max fessed up? It was nice of you say you were off to get the ski patrol for her, but the right thing to do would have been to follow up and come back to say that you were sorry for dislocating her shoulder.

    <O:p</O:p

shawndoggy, you still need to make an official apology for taking out Jamie. Did you even stop long enough to see if she was alright let alone how bad you might have or did hurt her? “oops. my bad” in the video you were asked to remove from this thread just does not cut it for me and some of the others.

    <O:p</O:p

The last part of my rant is for the rider that premeditated the use of a small class of intermediate skiers being led by an instructor, as a human slalom course, and deliberately carve between each one of them. What an inconsiderate a$$. If you need some recognition by others please find another way to get it.

    <O:p</O:p

I am sorry to say that I feel the OES was a little, or maybe greatly marred by the actions of a few.

    <O:p</O:p

Now I am off to put on my flame proof suit and pretend that this thread does not exist.

  7. I cannot verify these facts but this is what was passed along to me about the Carver:

  8. hey KT, Ive got a couple of $10 off coupons for Schwietzer, let me know when you come up here & I'll get'em to ya. Also have a room dis count If you plan to stay in the village.:biggthump

You are on for that (if you still have them when/if I make it). You see I have a Coiler slalom board up there apparently making turns under someone else’s feet and I would like to at least see it again.

I would most likely stay over at least 2 week days while there as well as the weekend.

    thanks, kt

  9. He like's the Axxes, but another board wouldn't hurt?

You can wait until we come back out, so you don't have to pay shipping on it!

Might not be until summer? Unless we come up for another Carve session, or we can meet you at MHM later this spring-summer?

Are you going up to Silver Mtn?

    Take her easy, Brett

I will stay in touch. May go to Schwietzer some time soon to ride with a friend. I have to check the last days at my local hills to see about timmig of Silver or Schwietzer

    kt

  10. Thank's for everybody's input, and keep it coming if you have more suggestions.

    Scott

When I first got on a Burner it was a 188 and I started with the bindings centered on the hole pattern at my normal stance width. I figure that the inserts were put where the board should be ridden. When I tried to make the first turn I realized that it was not going to turn very well and thought "just need more speed", so the second turn came after pointing it a bit to get it up to speed and the thing behaved soooooooooooo well I have been riding all of them there ever since.<O:p</O:p

    <O:p</O:p

I remember in days log ago when I alpine skied and we wanted to make a ski quicker, we mounted just a bit ahead of center. With that in mind, forward may be the trick for you.

    kt

  11. Couldn't tell you what my stance width is but don't be afraid to be forward on the inserts. I think I ended up all the way forward. I am a big guy too and I don't think I have ever come close to folding the nose. There is a spot when I get too far back on the tail that you can feel the flex change ( at my size anyway). Doesn't buck you off. It's just a feeling of "never felt that on a board before am I going for a ride. oh ok I guess not."

Does this thing really have a 17 m SCR. Sounds long? Or is that for the 197?

I am about 6' tall, 175 pounds, 18.25" stance width and ride mine dead center of the mounting holes and love it in that position.

carvedod the specs are as follows (nose, waist, tail, side cut, running length)

    188cm | 22.8 | 18.15 | 22.2 | 16.72m | 170.5

I think the 97 is closer to 17.5

  12. kt says thanks for all of the great turns with everyone.

It is always fun to ride with some new faces and some old faces.

Also a special thanks to my ‘sponsors’ (snowbee and noschool rider)

who made my stay very easy and to Bryan for the lift vouchers. You heal up well. Not much fun to be down.

  13. I came off at 50k yesterday, in a landscape that should be described as "the Moon".

This was a personal "best" for me.

Special thanks to Time for the slipped pedal. I should send them my TLD helmet for a re-paint.

If you hit your helmet at that speed you should just go get a new one.

54mph is my best on fat tires, hardtail stump jumper.

I now ride a Specialized Enduro pro carbon, http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=22002 29.1 lbs with the pedals, air lock tubes and pump. I do not want to put my computer on it 'cause it may only scare me into slowing down.

I do not remember the top speed on my cross bike but have passed cars in the corners going down Bogus Basin Road in the summer. I had one jetta use a slow turn out after a while cause he could not lose me.

I also have some scars and one broken helmet from some not so successfull desents.

  14. Let's see..... been there twice..... reverse rotation..... land on head..... I say kenny s not so smart of/or good learner (or maybe not so good at impressing girls). That is us men however, always trying to get one up or go bigger than the other guy.

Carve Dog, new name for "hits"..... "monkey bars". What do you think?
