I think it's really cool, if not horrible for the environment.

I've had a few hotshot skiier kids try to race me. It's like they have this anger or need to show people up. I wish that Chachi had been punished more severely- there's nothing worse than a coach turning a blind eye just because they want to make a player/skiier feel good.

Yes it is.

I want to add some dampness to my softboot setup. I've got Burton C02 bindings, I was thinking about adding an 1/8" piece of rubber under each one, would be interested to hear suggestions.
-
Okay, just completed 5 days on my new board in Colorado. Overall, I'm disappointed. The board is simply not damp and beat the **** out of me on choppy snow. Part of me thinks this is due to me using Burton C02 bindings because a lot of people have remarked the board soaks up chop well, etc.
In powder, the nose works awesome and the board pivots very well on steep terrain. It carves well on groomers and the big sidecut is a lot of fun.
I am thinking of a couple of different approaches to help with dampness- either try a pair of Burton P1 bindings or add a layer of rubber or something under my bindings.

That is a damn sweet ride!
Jones Flgship 163W arrived in mail yesterday. Nose rocker shown
-
Jones Flagship 163 ordered:D
-
No experience with it but definitely a sweet looking board.

Bumping this thread again, has anyone ridden a Prior hybrid rocker?
-
Holy ****, I cannot stand those f'ing things. The smell is sooo putrid and once on your hand, you can't wash it off. Maybe after 3 or so washes it will come off.
-
Hahah, I knew that didn't seem right.
-
That's funny because the Jones nose rocker reminded me of boards from around 1990- I remember the Kelly Air also sort of looked like that. I'm not completely against using a board with 117 running length- if people want to chime in maybe I'll do it.
wow, I just busted out a ruler and can't believe how little 4 mm is.

Yeah it is, with a trip out west once a year. I want something more relaxed than my T6, most definitely a freeride board.
I'm curious how the upturned nose would do in hardpack conditions but the 117 really bothers me.
-
Well I'm coming from a T6 164, 123 running length and a 117 is something seen on something like a 156. What's confusing is the 164 is only 1 cm longer but has 4 cm more running length.
I think on steeps I might run into trouble with the width.
-
I'm looking at a Jones flagship. Was going to get the 163W but am freaked out by the 117cm running length. The 164 has 121 running length but the waist is 25.4 and not sure if wide enough for me. I run about 25 degrees front and 5 or so rear.

Sweet, I was thinking about buying it but will definitely now. Really psyched to see it.

In order to stiffen up the shorter (for me) Rossi Jones 168 MW, I installed inserts and Tinkler snow stix to make the nose of this board stiffer for my 200+ frame as I can over drive the nose of most freeride boards shorter than 175. I will give a much more detailed report on how this thing rides once I can really put it through a serious day of riding in mixed and chopped up conditions, but here is my latest try at riding something shorter.
cheers,
sandy
p.s. the tinkler snow stix i am using are the carbon fiber ones and they have already changed the flex of the front of this board tremendously.
Can we have an updated report?

Anyone ridden one? They have amazing deals on them right now, so checking them out.

I rented one while on vacation and was hooked. Got an Amundson Aquaglide 11'3". It's a ton of fun and amazing workout.
-
Burton T6 164, though plan on replacing it with something more damp this season because coming back from knee injury. Lib Travis Rice HP interests me but not sure if C2 BTX will work well for carvin around.
-
bump if anyone has ridden one.

Handcrafted in Whistler & shipped to Holland...
SICK!

Hey Buell, thanks for the detailed response. I had an avulsion fracture of my knee. The board is for freeride- soft boot carving, etc. Something like a Prior MFR. I've been working hard on protecting the joint by working out tons so that should help. I don't run huge angles, but more than the average soft booter.

Thanks for the advice guys, you make good points. Ursle, that's what I was thinking as far as absorbing more bumps, etc.
Heelside turns and choppy snow
in The Lodge
Posted
I've noticed I'm getting real beat up on my heelside turns in choppy snow. I'm wondering if my technique is wrong or something because it's gotten so bad.
This tends to happen when I'm locked in to a turn and loading the edge pretty hard. Can I try something to help this?
