I've been happy with Goretex but this looks interesting.

Especially for touring. Can never get enough venting on a climb.

  2. If you're going to ski 50+ days/season in the Sierra, you'll be wishing you had some good waterproof gear at some point. Especially pants. Sitting on a wet lift is no fun. I love my Arcteryx waterproof pants.

  3. There are plenty of threads on here about ski boots used as hard boots. I'll let you do some searching and reading.

Boot sizes are the same as ski boots sizes - mondo sizing. In other words, measure your foot in cm and you've got your size, roughly.

I don't think I have any spare boots your size, but if you can figure that part out, I may have spare bindings and definitely have spare boards.

There are a handful of SoCal riders who are at Mammoth much more than me. I just bought an MVP because it was cheap(ish) and would pay for itself with about 10 days strung over the two seasons. I'd love to get down there when more of the mountain is open. Normally when I visit it's just the main stuff that runs in the spring. None of that lookers' left stuff down toward town. I've done car shuttles to Canyons and hiked to Avy Chutes, but it would be fun to ski it when there's more snow.

  4. Matt,

That sounds like a deal I could get excited about. I need an excuse to exercise my new MVP pass anyway. I usually don't get down there until the spring, but I'll try to make a point of planning a weekend before then.

Do you have your own hard boots? I have plenty of spare boards, but not sure if you'd fit in my boots.

There are also a handful of regular mammoth carvers who may be better equipped to help you out.

  5. At least as it is used here, canting refers to tilting your bindings inward, toward one another where tilting toward heel or toe is referred to as heel lift and toe lift. Of course with good bindings, you can combine lift and cant to fit your needs.

If you think about it, we use the word canting the same way skiers do. It is just that we're mounted in a different orientation. For skiers, canting refers to adjusting their boot cuff, insole, boot sole and/or binding to accommodate being bowlegged or knock-kneed and still keep the ski flat. For us it is as much about comfort and body mechanics as it is function.

  6. I also have a 163 Volkl RT 163SL in near-pristine condition that I'm getting ready to unload if anyone needs a nice race board. Haven't decided on a price, but make me an offer. I'm not racing any more so it hasn't been ridden in years. Still has tons of camber and near perfect edges/base. It is the fastest little board I've ridden.

  7. SOLD

$399 shipped to the lower 48.

From the '06-'07 or '07-'08 season, I believe. Purchased new in April, 2008. I've ridden it approximately 15 times. In very good condition. Base has never been ground since new. Two minor dings in the base. One will disappear with first tune, the other probably on the second tune, or can be p-texed easily. It is about 1cm from the near-perfect edge. The base still has some structure to it, but the board could use a tune before racing/riding. There's a very small nick in the topsheet near the tail and some scratching/scuffing topsheet as would be expected from some use. Scuffing of the topsheet by TD2 bindings as seen in pics. Specs below, and in picture. Slightly recurved nose, great camber, fast, smooth board. This thing loves to carve. It is very damp, especially when on edge. This is a great GS race board or fast carver.

Pictures show the bare base. I have since storage waxed it.

    Overall Length: 185

    Nose Width: 24.2

    Waist: 20

    Tail: 23.1

How the heck did they think that was a cool name? Well, yes it is a cool name, but there's already a well established company in the snowsports industry called Bomber. Fin, I know you hate lawyers, but if I were in your shoes, I'd be all over these idiots to change the name of their company. Someone could argue that you don't sell skis, but you do sell ski equipment (bomber tele).

As a customer and big fan of Bomber and BOL, I feel genuinely offended that they think they can usurp the Bomber name.

Heck, the company that makes Scott Poles & Goggles issued a C & D to a company called ON3P to make them stop making a ski with the word Scott in the ski name (and the guy who runs ON3P is named Scott) - side note, that ski is now called the Cease and Desist.

Am I the only one who thinks this is BS?

Either that, or they need to pay you a 25% royalty on every ski they sell (and they charge obscene $$ for their little short skis).

  9. Saw it a few weeks ago. Worth the watch. Fun times. I thought the Matchstick movie was better, but they're both fun.

I'll be at the SF show at Palace of Fine Arts in a couple weeks. If anyone is around SF, a bunch of us will probably tailgate in the parking lot beforehand.
