Crazy Old Man
randy and i were on the warners lift. bunch of 10-12 yrs old snowboarders literally pushed to the front of the line. there was a long line of ski jammers but they just pushed to the front of the line. one of the instructors told one kid to get behind his group. randy and i were in the alternate line and next after the ski jammers. somehow i just knew that little sh!t and his friends were going to bud in front of us. i moved my board forward and stuck my arm out. the kid tried to push forward into my arm. i leaned over to him and said "get back, we're next". after randy and i got on the lift the kids were in the next chair behind us yelling at me, "hey guy in the red!!!". i couldn't hear what they were saying with helmet on. just ignored them.
in retrospect i should have just let the kids go ahead. since i don't have kids i don't think things through, i just react.
growing up i never smarted off to adults. wtf!
A few years ago I had a kid (about 12) squeeze through between my wife and I to get to his buddies, I said "HEY!" and he just said "Whatever". He planted his pole on my board and tried to push a couple of times, then tried to move his skis which put the edge down the side of the nose of my board.... I leaned forward and said to him very calmly "Here, let me help you". I then picked him up and threw him in a snow bank about 6 feet away, out of the line.
I didn't think it through, but people gave me more room the rest of the day.

Well, I hope you guys had a good time. Looks like the light was good for the early part.
Fresh snow called to me on two wheels.

$22. All day. Not bad.
Ooh, that's not bad!

Naw. I think preferred prg will save you a little on your ticket(s).
Are you coming to Ride?! Yay!
~Karl
I don't know.... The fat bike has been pulling pretty strong lately. It is ready to go with a quick change of clothes. My boards still have storage wax and no bindings.
We'll see. I can only be out for about 4 hours, a ticket is a little steep for only that.
-
Do you HAVE to do this "preferred" thing? Even if I am probably not going to ride there again this year? I am not blessed with alot of time......
-
Hey is Alpine making a decline at afton? i noticed that there isn't a log thread...
For some reason this year is kind of quiet across the board..... Maybe people are just not on here, I don't know. I haven't been out yet, my bike has been getting more use.
Even the buck thread is kind of quiet.

Crap. I was hoping I could make it this year......
-
I'll be there......... With my kids........ On skis. :D

New Coiler. EC style, 175 x 22 14/17 sidecut. This thing rocks!!! Super solid through chunky snow. Slow speed turns, fast turns, no problem.
WOW! that thing looks sweet Erik!
Hopefully I will get to see it this year.
OT: Are you homebrewing????

I am so glad I tele. This alpine stuff sounds WAY to complicated!

thanks, length for me anyway, is no really about float, unless you meant long in the 180 + range...
Yeah, I was talking about the 182, 187, 192, 200 tankers.... depending on your foot size.
-
are the tankers and the long boards good in powder because of their length/long nose, or because of their nose design? as some boards are.
thanks again.
Pretty much just the size for the pre-rockered ones.... They also have a nice big sidecut which is really nice.
-
Considering what is available from a Dupraz to a Tanker (or Donek offerings) and everything in between and outside. I would say a metal board would be overkill for this application.
-
I don't twitter.
I do have a FB account but I use it differently than average I believe. I have few "friends". I use it to "like" companies, magazines, and organizations that I like to hear about. They post updates, new products, movies, etc. I also use it to follow things that I can't get info easily in the US (Dakar race).
-
Mine is pretty much gone....
It has been replaced with skiing with my kids (3 and 5). I would much rather go out with them right now.
Kind of weird for me.

If someone had access to an industrial x-ray used for inspection and failure analysis you could use it to analyze the layers. You can adjust the depth of field and the focus to see the different layers. It is VERY fancy...... You can see separate layers of only a few thou.
The only kicker is you would need someone there that would know what they are looking at (Bruce). Otherwise I could get it done.
Edit: I guess the link that zone posted above is close....

Trent,
In your email you have Jan 25, in the post Feb 25. We going for both?
I think he meant Jan 25th, it is a Wednesday. Feb 25th is a Sunday.

Mostly a good video.
They didn't have to sensationalize it by showing the dude hit the stone wall TWICE! Unprofessional if you ask me.
-
I vote box as well. We use alot of salt here on the roads.
One thing about boxes. GET THE BOARDS OUT AS SOON AS YOU GET HOME!
Being that the boxes are mostly black they heat up nicely in the sun which melts the snow and turns them into humid little boxes that will rust the crap out of your edges.....

My daughter and I were there for the "early bird" We stayed on the big magic carpet. Must fun I have had on snow in a while. She was having a blast.
The snow sucked, but didn't matter.
-
I'm going for a bike ride....:D
