Guest Roach
Does anybody ride in a pair of Head boots? I am thinking of getting a pair stratos pro boots but would like some opinions first. I currently ride in a pair of '99 Burton Fire and they are all packed out and breaking, so it is time for new boots. Thanks.
Guest woodman
on e-bay germany, the Cirrus model, not the Stratos. They look good and have all the right bits on them (4 buckles, power strap, intec compatible, etc.) A local guy I know has ridden some older models and says they're decent boots, but he's a dyed in the wool Raichle man. Depending on the price they might be a good deal? I know they sell the Stratos here at Bomber.....Fin, Jack, any input here? Paul
Guest ldbkphd
I have a pair of the Head Stratos pro Ltd. (Yellow Shell). Previously had Raichle 224s. The Stratos pro is a better boot overall though they do cost a bit more. Shell is a bit stiffer, better contruction. I have medium to wide feet and they are a better fit for me. The tongue on the liner is too stiff for me however (5' 6", 140 lbs). I'm using my old Raichle liners with this boot. Bought mine at Startingate.net Hope this helps. Guest Roach
Thanks for the responses. I am 6' 180lbs, so I hope the tongue won't be too stiff. Good to hear that they are a bit wider than the Raichles. My old pair of Raichles (had them before my Fires)were always a bit narrow for my foot. Guest Roach
One other question, will they accept Intec Heels?
Marker
Yes - they are intec ready.
Guest Al T.
The Heads have rigid buckles as opposed to the strap type in the Raichles. I've seen some people modify their top buckle on their Heads to a strap type construction to allow just a bit more give. If you end up having some problems with a stiff tongue, maybe this will help. Guest Randy S.
I don't have Head boots, I have UPS ones. However, regarding the above post about "give". I've found that a Booster Strap made a big difference in both stiffness/support and comfort. The Heads come with a sort of booster strap as part of the inner boot. However, the Booster Brand strap is better. The one with the heads does not flex. Booster straps have 2 or 3 rubber bands and offer some flex. This reduces shin bang while also adding some support. Here's how I set mine. I buckle the top two buckles on my boots (my UPS boots have 5 buckles) as tight as I can. Then I set the booster strap. Then I back the top buckle off one notch. This keeps my boots very snug, but gives me some flex. It seems to work pretty well. Once I set them, I leave that top buckle alone all day. The middle 3 buckles I undo on the lift for comfort and re-do them at the top. This is another nice feature of the Head and UPS boots over the Raichles. The Raichle/DeeLuxe ratchet thing doesn't always stay put if you undo them on the lift. It can be a pain to get them back to the same position you had them on the last run. With Head and UPS boots, you can put them back in the same slot every time. If you need a little more snugness, you just screw in the buckle a turn or two.
