Converting older TD1 to spring loaded heel?

Speedzilla,

If you want to convert an older TD1 to the newer spring loaded bail you will need:

  1. One "Spring type" Lug
  2. One TD Lug Spring
  3. One Sole Block - Spring version
  4. One Shoulder Bolt - Long

Also, the base plate is a bit narrower under the sole block to clear the spring so you can either "mill" down your current base plate of buy a new one from us.

Don't forget, for the money you might also want to just get a "TD1 Retro Kit" as this will convert ONE binding to step-in. By far the ultimate for convenience. More then welcome to drop me a line if you need more help.

Thanks Fin, I appreciate it.

Are the springs in stock?

Yep, the TD2 spring is what you want as the Lug will also be for the TD2 but they both work on a TD1 Sole Block. Also, the TD2 spring is about 30% "firmer" for better action :biggthump

Awesome, look for a parts order soon!

I'm saving pennys for a set of TD2s, but there is no reason to ditch the TD1s, they are bullet-proof.

As I told Fin, Steven Cobb (inventor of Magne-Tracte series of Lib-tech.com and CAD-God of Mervin MFG [Lib Tech, GNU, and Supernatural) made a comment as he was investigating my carbon butterfly race board and those gleamy -polished up- TD2 step-in brought a comment from him "Those are burly!" with a grin. :)
