But I plan to do it over the course of a few years. I got my Vanguard longboard last summer and plan to get a slalom board this summer... then maybe a T-board. It's not very scientific, but here's why I bought from Insect... 1. Recommended by a few people here on BOL 2. They have a great website (no BS, excellent descriptions, clear navigation, etc.) 3. I love the simple, clean design of their boards (I'm not into flames, iron crosses, skulls, etc.) 4. I emailed them and got a prompt, personal, and helpful response from Steve Hopper (owner/builder) --- he suggested a stiffer custom flex for my weight 5. Online order process (via PayPal) was effortless (I have a PayPal account). 6. Received another personal email from Steve Hopper just minutes after my PayPal order. When you add it all up, I like Insect! :) I chose the Dragonfly because (to quote from their site), "Not quite a longboard, not quite a slalom board. It's the "sweet spot" in between." Looking forward to longboarding, but I am going to rent (for testing purposes) a tierney once they are available (next month I hear) again to rent in Japan. Your impressions of the Insect website and of dealing with Steve the Insect guy are exactly the same as mine. Did you get a 45 deg truck for the front and a 30 deg for the rear? You should, 'cos it'll make it easier to pump speed on the flats, and make the tail of the board feel less "loose" and slidey when turning at speed. Hollywood 90210 Posted March 23, 2005 Report Share Posted March 23, 2005 I have a Roe Crossfire, Roe Unlimited, Insect Dragonfly and a Bozi Mad Bomber. If you are not going to race slalom I would recomend the Insect. For me it has a very snowboard like feel to it, it is like doing cross under turns on a slalom cut snowboard. If you think you might want to do some slalom skateboard racing go for the Roe. The Bozi is a fun board to ride but i usually chose the Insect if I am just playing around.
